If you are an investor, you must observe for yourself if these situations will come to fruition and what the effects will be... what the effects will be if the situations play out this way or if it does not play out as follows.
You have to also keep a look out for future related or unrelated but significant developments.
You have to determine how the markets will react in anticipation of the situations playing out according to expectations and playing out beyond expectations. Just make sure that you are not brain-washed by propaganda and that you can see reality for what it is. -

The sick government in Singapore, would not be too concerned about rising prices if they have to make policies that will affect businesses and the rich, to counter inflationary pressures (just as they would not be too concerned with businesses when they have to make policies that affect the rich, like rising property and property rental prices).

SingTel sees US$82m gain, US$66m disposal loss
SINGAPORE - Singapore Telecommunications said on Monday it would record an exceptional gain of around $118 million (US$82 million) and post a $96 million loss from the disposal of a stake in a Taiwan company.
The company said the translation gain arose after an Australian subsidary reduced its Australian-dollar denominated share capital by A$323 million (US$283 million) while its loss resulted from a deal to swop SingTel's stake in New Century InfoComm Tech Co for new shares in Taiwanese mobile phone operator Far EasTone Telecommunications Co.
Both the exceptional loss and gain will be recorded in SingTel's third quarter ended Dec 31, 2007.
SingTel said in a statement that the gain and a $84 million translation gain recorded in the first three months this year would amount to $202 million for the nine months ending Dec 31, 2007. -- REUTERS

we had more opposition members once.. they did won a GRC IIRC.... turns out to be clowns..... and were kicked off by their voters in the subsequent election.
bottomline is... singapore have no resources... but our country commands one of the largest sovereign funds on this planet.... for all the wrongs they may have done... its clear they must have done something right.... given the hordes of cash at their fingertips.
look at our neighbours... tons of resources... millions of coolies...millions of kilometers square of land and sea.... they still come begging from us!
if you are really so capable... its a wonder the GIC or temasek never invites you to join them...... or were you rejected?
