ah... but what if they also keep on increasing the price of the alternatives? What if they keep on increasing the prices for buses, the MRT, the taxis and tax the alternatives exorbitantly?Originally posted by Ponders:THe only sure way ERP can work is...
$10 per crossing.
just like how the CBD works in london. you charge amazing rates, people REALLY find alternatives.
otherwise, people will just have that, "only $1" mentality.
sometimes, accessibility of public buses (esp SMRT) still does not convince me not to buy a car.Originally posted by Ponders:THe only sure way ERP can work is...

I had the same mentality as you. I always believe that Singapore has the best transport system, that was like in the 1990's, until my pregnant wife was fainting and still no one give up seat to her... twice she got dizzy spell and had to alight before her destination.. She got fed up and took up driving lesson while I still happily take public transport.. when she passed, we bought a car and ever since, I don't take public transport anymore ...Originally posted by hiphop2009:sometimes, accessibility of public buses (esp SMRT) still does not convince me not to buy a car.
They deserved the million because of the ERP is collecting tons for the government. They engage oversea expert so that any c ock up, they blame the expert !!!! .. if the system work, they take the credit and justify their million dollar salary ...Originally posted by HyperFocal:The government astounds me; they can't come out with any effective solution to control traffic besides increasing ERP charges, & yet they aspire to increase the population to 6.5 Million???
On top of it, LTA engages Australian Consultants to restructure our network of roads & expressway...? It's like I hire a maid to do housework and the maid in return engages House Cleaning services to do her job???
I wonder why do we pay them the millions that they gloriously proclaim they are entitled??
No! I challenge you with my better schoolarstic super solution : SGD$15.50 per crossing.Originally posted by Ponders:THe only sure way ERP can work is...
