one of the reasons Indo gahman cannot refuse is that the proponents will say... even if we don't build, the people will just go to Singapore to gamble... how will the Indo gahman argue against this?
and will the Bintang casino compete with the Singapore one effectively?
in a few ways, yes...
they will have less overheads and so they will be able to give back more to the gamblers... in the form of rebates....
like the way you buy petrol, the petrol companies give you rebates.... -
All they need is for the muslims to protest and for the radicals to bomb some resorts and churches..you might want to add it to your list of casino gambling prevention strategies...

Owing to skill labor shortage, IR resort may not be completed in 2008. So costs will go up further and IR will not be such a smooth ride after all. -

The muslims will protest if the government wants to build a legal integrated resort in Bintan..it depends on how strongly they do so and we'll see from there if the govt accepts the proposal..they rejected the Batam one some time back. -

It doesn't matter if tourists gamble there. What is important is that they spend some time and money in Singapore as well. Thats why we had a hand in developing bintan... -

Its not about Indonesians going overseas to gamble, its more of building a legalised casino in the largest muslim country in the world..Its haram to build one on their land if you get what i mean..it won't stop them from protesting. Even if protests are peaceful and things do not become violent.
