There's always preparation before a war.
No country can go immediately into war.
Any country that fails to see the preparation will get whacked.
Preparations can be hush hush under cover or disguised as routine troop movements.
Singapore is kiah see. Always watchful.
Only the US of A can watch war preparations going on right under her nose and do nothing about it. Pearl Harbour and 911. -

depends on which wages war on singapore. If USA, then it is better to leave and fight another day. If if any ASEAN country or even australia dare to wage war against singapore. i will say, singapore will not be defeated easily.
i hope many forumers here serve in SAF and has particpate actively in joint forces exercise with foreigner forces. i would say, we can easily defeated malaysia, indonesia and philppines in terms of air, sea and land forces because of our superioity in weaponry, training and quality of our soldiers.
I am a ex NAVY man,trust me forumers, if Malaysian/ indonesia or phillpines dare to confront us in a sea to sea battle, we can eliminate their sea forces in a day. that how highly regards i held our navy and how lowly , badly equipped their navy is. in today warefare, fitness or soldiers no longer play a critical role in a decisive battle. it is training, quality of the soldiers who can handle state of the art technology and battlefield command.
our weaponry arent defensive if you bother to study hard what we had. eg. submarine is never meant to be a defensive weaponry. singapore has to adopted a pre-emptive strike. every much like the israelis style. we have to cover as much ground as possible into enemy territories to make singapore out of range from their arti. secure our food chain. the rest, our navy and airforce will have sea and air supremacy.
there are many officers here. trust them, singapore aint a small fry as what many of you may think.

(5) Master the manoeuveres. Turn the devious into direct and misfortunes into gain. War is based on deception. Move only when there is a good advantage to be gained and create changes by dividing and concentrating the forces. Be swift as the wind compact as the forest. In raiding and plundering like fire; in stability like mountain. Let your plan be unfathomable as the cloud and move like thunder bolt.
(6) Do not pursue an enemy who pretend to flee. Refrain attack troops whose spirit is keen. Do not swallow a bait put out by the enemy. When surrounding an enemy leave him an escape route. Do not press an enemy to desperation.
(7) In battle number of soldiers does not necessarily secure victories. Never advance by relying blindly on strength of military power. It is sufficient to concentrate on our strength, estimate our enemy's position and seek his capture. Those who lack foresight show contempt and disdain of enemy will only end up being captured.

Go and read up if you will and see how our SAF generals have succeeded in mastering such complex but highly practical art in coping with our national defence.
The first chapter on Planning obviously has not been implemented by the leaders. So this shortcoming needs to be corrected first to support the SAF. A country divided cannot win a war. -

Actually when war comes, pple will fight.. and at the end of the day.. every soldier will fight for himself, his comrades, his friends, his loved ones - not the government.
if a war happens and a soldier is at the frontline while the commanders and leaders flee the country, the soldier sees the enemy coming in to kill him - will he shoot to save himself? or stick to the "i'm not gonna fight for the leaders who ran"? -
