Don't think he cares about making the nation happy. AS long as he, his son and PAP are happy he heck the care about the happiness of the people of Singapore who feed them. He is ungrateful, ungratedfulness is in his blood. Instead of making the people happy, I think he expects people to make him and his team happy. Wake up old man and PAP, you people are to provide public service, we the nation don't owe you people any thing.Originally posted by LazerLordz:Well, but making us happy is his business and his duty.
And this nation desires greater liberalisation.

[b]To introduce more democracy is not to make the western media happy. We the citizens want democracy for Singapore. We want progress through democracy, not through autocracy.
if majority of singaporeans really want democracy why are the PAP still continuing to enjoy dominance in the parliament? if am no PAP supporters infact im the opposite. but i grew sceptical about the really needs and wants of average singaporeans. does democracy ring a bell to average singaporeans. do we love democracy as badly as the Thais?
one things i would like to point out the western democracy dont work in every country. such as i dont believe Russia or china can be better off being a democratic one than communist.

China has leader like Deng Xiaoping who passed his power to the party, not like someone who pass his power to his son and running like a dynasty.. (Ohms! Among full democracies, Sweden is number 1. USA and UK are among the lowest in rank. Then there's the flawed democracies like Taiwan and S.Korea.
A culture of passivity and apathy, an obedient and docile citizenry, are not consistent with democracy. Singapore is considered a hybrid regime, more closer to authoritarian regimes like China and Vietnam.

Although no longer PM, he has never totally left the center stage, still flattering himself as usual. A few months back he said Singapore is in the golden period.Originally posted by Quincey:"While the country is likely to face inflation and a recession, it will continue to grow, thanks to good government."
I think I get it.

I agree that when a man is too self-centred, he will never think of the welfare and wellbeing of others but only of his own.Originally posted by googoomuck:Although no longer PM, he has never totally left the center stage, still flattering himself as usual. ‘If there are no wars or oil crises, this golden period can stretch out over many years,’ he said.
Oops, but there are wars and thereÂ’s an oil crisis. Alarming divorce rates, high suicide rates, delaying CPF payouts, old age employment problems, worryingly large health care bills and many more.
The golden ages of humanity's history are periods of peace, prosperity, progress and happiness.
Are we living in the golden period? Duh. I think I get it too.
The golden period ended as soon as it began.
