... who is TES, YI, JK and SD?Originally posted by 00011000:Ever heard of the story? Son of a poor washerwoman, worked hard and made good.
The funny thing about these scholars is that they went overseas, came back with caucasian or diff. racial wives and those change personalities. From MBT, TES, YI, JK to SD and many more.
Don't get me wrong.
1) If you are of mixed marriage, so be it. I am not referring to you.
2) Those who work hard to climb from poverty, I salute you.
What I don't like about these scholar-minister are:
1) They seem to think that Singaporean must be like them, mixed beyond recognition, to be of anything. Implementing policies to reflect their personal choices.
Deep and long talks with my many friends, Malay, Chinese, Indian, tells of diff stories. Majority wants to preserve their heritages for the next generation.
2) They seem to have forgotten their struggles the moment they arrived or made good. Or worst still - forgotten their roots.
How many came out to share their stories to inspire others, unafraid that ppl will laugh at their past? How many went back to their communities, before they joined politic, to help those in the same predicaments?
I think, it is something to do with this potent mix. Poor, inferior-complex asian man and the intoxication of up-class chick or white gal that make them behave so silly, so arrogantly.
You may have a point about those Asian Men or Women who have such inferiority complex as signified by their marriages to some foreign races looked upon as more superior.Originally posted by 00011000:Ever heard of the story? Son of a poor washerwoman, worked hard and made good.

Can you just stop you and your Mah Bow Tan thing, you have discussed this in the bus forum for like a lot of times. I suggest that you come back to Singapore, go to a Tampines GRC meet the people session and iron things up yourself with him since you are that unhappy with he and his transport policies. One thing I don't understand is, you are not affected by this currently, and even if you are in Singapore right now, you won't be that affected, but you sound as if you are seriously affected by in right now, do you just have nothing else regarding Singapore politics besides Mah Bow Tan.Originally posted by iveco:What it should have been in 1999:
SMRT allowed to keep subway monopoly, Tibs left untouched.
No NW for NE swap as we know it, instead BPJ return to SBS while HGN comes under Tibs.
Have you ever been to Tampines GRC and dialoged with the bleedy marbok? I would be very interested to know if he can give you a concrete answer instead of hamming and hawing.Originally posted by Scania:Can you just stop you and your Mah Bow Tan thing, you have discussed this in the bus forum for like a lot of times. If a Singaporean can live with it everyday, why can't you as a Singaporean student studying abroad do the the same.
This aside, I still think that if he had not swapped NE with NW areas, things would be worse as the population in the NE is higher than that in the NW, and that SBS Transit is doing a better job at NEL than SMRT does for NSL.
Can Jeffo answer this question properly? Don't get pwned, OK.Originally posted by adetet:Have you ever been to Tampines GRC and dialoged with the bleedy marbok? I would be very interested to know if he can give you a concrete answer instead of hamming and hawing.
Mr Seetoh, the merger is one issue, the exchange is another, why must you always purposely mix the two up just to support your initial argument of LTA's/PTC decision the two terriorties. Admittedly, although Mah Bow Tan did play a part by sanctioning the exchange, he most probably wasn't the person or part of the group who proposed the exchange.Originally posted by iveco:It was mentioned before by Fudgester in the past that even a B-grade economics student could tell that subways were more suited to be natural monopolies.
Also, as a supporter of Tibs Holdings, it pains me to see its directors quitting SMRT Corp one by one and the standards of the bus ops falling rapidly.
This has only made me even more of a doubledeck worshipper after seeing how SBS(T) capitalised on its opponent's weaknesses.
i thought seet ai mee was unseated cos she use tissue to wipe hands after shaking hand with fishmonger and butcher.Originally posted by iveco:Any BPJian can tell that SBS did a better job managing the NW sectors. There you go again, mixing up the exchange and the merger. The current sitation in BPJ is the work of SMRT buses, not directly because of the exchange. If you are talking about the exchange, then ceteris paribus (also assume that TIBS is still around), you would most probably see a better trnsport system in the NW. I aappreciate if you stop smoking around here by purposely mixing the two issues up so as to support your initial stand of "Mah Bow Tan wrong because he exchanged the two territories".Originally posted by iveco:Any BPJian can tell that SBS did a better job managing the NW sectors. Well, the merger and exchange would not have gone ahead at all if SBS(T) wasn't awarded NEL at all.Originally posted by Scania:There you go again, mixing up the exchange and the merger. Do you think they just anyhow tikam tikam which company? They probably did read the proposals submitted by the contenders before choosing which company to operate NEL. Also, Delgro had already a plan to further diversify their business, so how can it be a wrong move if a company has a plan to diversify its business and eventually got awarded as the operator of NEL.Originally posted by iveco:Well, the merger and exchange would not have gone ahead at all if SBS(T) wasn't awarded NEL at all.

However, Rudd makes a better prime minister than LHL. The latter doesn't believe in liberal democracy at all.
