I don't know if they are better than us because they are more brave or they are worse off than us thats why they took to the streets and protested.Originally posted by PRP:M'sians dare to take part in street protest but S'porean dare not. They are better than us.
But street protests usually don't show good results and they usually end up clashes with the police.
In S'pore, the govt says gathering can only hold indoors. This is an idea the oppoistion party should take up.But perhaps they have finacial problem to rent a place-- maybe not.Why don't they hold protest gathering indooors?Maybe they are doubtful many ppl would attend.
Perhaps we can just have online petition!

My malaysian colleague who is PR , keeps saying to everyone, being PR can already because there is no Strong enough INCENTIVE to lure him to convert.Originally posted by PRP:M'sians dare to take part in street protest but S'porean dare not. They are better than us.
I wonder is it considered 'angel' protest when protesters are only young women wearing angel costumes and only smiling at the public, showing them the message on their placard?Originally posted by PRP:But street protests usually don't show good results and they usually end up clashes with the police.
I wonder if the decision to allow or not lies with some group of people or 1 single person to nod or the people can influence the decision given this is such a world class democracu?Originally posted by ndmmxiaomayi:Whether something is wrong or right, it depends on your own thinkings. To me, as long as your protests don't disturb people or cause little disturbance, why not?
Another thing - get the point across. Holding protests for so many days and getting nothing done is useless.
Well, what can I say?Originally posted by HyperFocal:Don't you all know why? .....
SG, is the PAP's Golden Rice Bowl!!!
We must always look good, appear peaceful & "transparent", people must be made to fear the "Law", just so the investments keeps pouring in for the good of the government... while we, contend with just scraping by on ever increasing costs....
We're in their Chicken Coop! Don't y'all git it??
Whoever the decision lies with, does it matter? If one person or a group can influence all the decisions make here, then it's not democratic any more.Originally posted by reddressman:I wonder if the decision to allow or not lies with some group of people or 1 single person to nod or the people can influence the decision given this is such a world class democracu?
Their understanding is, all protest will lead to riot. Same logic as all knifes will kill.Originally posted by dumbdumb!:i just think that there's a difference between protest and riot. lol.
the govt should differentiate the 2 and deal with these 2 issues differently
So much for sending them for a Harvard/MIT education.Originally posted by maurizio13:Their understanding is, all protest will lead to riot. Same logic as all knifes will kill.
But the ultimate reason for them not allowing protest is to avoid potential opposition buildup. They fear, that's why they restraint.
