Hokkiens are Barbarians

When the Han Dynasty conquered Fukien province 2000 years ago, they encountered a Barbarian tribe. This tribe was so horrible that the Chinese called them "Worms".
As these worms stayed in the Chinese empire, the word the chinese chose to describe them was"Worms in the Door"
The language of these worm barbarians were called Min-nan........
Min-nan language is HOKKIEN........
the language of Worms......Barbarians.......Worms staying within the Door....
No wonder Hokkoiens tend to be rough people......

This has a little truth, back in the Han dynasty, Guangdong region is known as kingdom of Yue and Kingdom of Min. These two regions are of non-central plain ppls and they merger their territories with Han under reign of Han Wudi. So it is true ppls of guangdong are descendents of these tribal ppls, thus they look a little different from the northern ppls

Just because the Hokkien people were called "barbarians" does not mean they are barbaric. The Chinese used to call westerners barbarians and vice versa (perhaps they still do).
Anyway, here is something about the history of Fujian people in ancient China. It looks like they have their own kingdom (civilization) before they were conquered by the first emperor of China.

Minyue was a de facto kingdom until the emperor of Qin Dynasty, the first unified imperial Chinese state, abolished the status. In the aftermath of the fall of the Qin Dynasty, however, civil war broke out between two warlords, Xiang Yu and Liu Bang; the Minyue king Wuzhu sent his troops to fight side-by-side with Liu Bang, and his gamble paid off. Liu Bang was victorious, and founded the Han Dynasty; in 202 BC he restored Minyue's status as a tributary independent kingdom. Thus Wuzhu was allowed to construct his fortified city in Fuzhou as well as a few locations in the Wuyi Mountains, which have been excavated in recent years. His kingdom extended beyond the borders of contemporary Fujian into eastern Guangdong, eastern Jiangxi, and southern Zhejiang. By this time Minyue was being sinicized and had a combination of aboriginal (possibly Austronesian) and Han Chinese elements. -

My intentions are honourable.......I want everyone to know that we are different from the northern Mandarin speaking types.....
even DNA studies show that southern Chinese genes are different from northern Chinese genes.......
So why this emphasis on Mandarin when it is a foreign language?
But it's sad the dialects are dying out in Singapore .........
And we carry on to speak the language of those who call us Barbarians.......northern Mandarin........ -

I assumed you started this thread because you realized you are a barbarian and needed to satisfy your urge to create this thread ?

You are posting knowledge from 2000 years ago..
Things have changed a lot in 2000 years ..
So does that means that if you look ugly 2000 years before, your descendants will look as ugly as you 2000 years later ? -
