Do a morality survey and start to find new moral leaders

A strong nation is built on strong morality. Virtues are the elements of moral men, good leaders and nationhood.

I fully support such a morality survey suggested by some forumers for our politicians and ruling party and potential leaders.

Will anyone care to come up with an online survey for voting. Those who are measured highly will become our next-generation leaders. To balance with practicality, moral leaders are entitled to decent pays even if they declined such as without decent pays they may not concentrate their full energy on serving the people. Decency is measured against the median pays of the people. A good decent pay can be mapped out and determined by the people such as 20x$800.00 pm for ministers or 40x$800 pm for PM. The rest can be in proportion to such guidelines depending on roles and responsibility.

Let us remove money worshiping as the key element to attract talents. Let us decide that not all good politicians are attracted to monies as the final factor for giving their service. Good politicians are those who have the basic intelligence and abilities to inspire and motivate citizens to work together as one with unity and strive to attain common goals.

Let the ministers be elected who are men of such profile as stated in the foregoing and remove monies from our formula of talent hunting. Open the door fully to find men and women of such profile to serve our people and reject all those who are confusing us with their own political self-interests and self-glorifications and craze for power.

No need to disagree with the topic: because everybody can agree that "Money or the Love of Money is the ROOT of all Evils". Indirectly, all will say that we need to avoid falling into such evils as a society or there is a need to find a way to such a problem.

However, everybody it seems also agree that "THERE IS NO SOLUTION AND NO ONE CAN STOP SUCH EVILS". Why? Because that everyone includes you and me and you and me do not want to love money.

Therefore on such a topic everyone will stop at finding a solution or start searching for one.

If someone can come up with a solution or the first step to solution then let it spread and create better values for society at least if we still cannot find moral political leaders to serve us with full commitments.

We can all do better.

Sg'lians have proven in what way they can be managed such that they give undying support continuously rain or shine, day or night, 24 x 7 non-stop for last 50 years or so.

Politicians are all "corrupt" in one way of another. It just a matter of how "corrupt" it is.

Even if there is a party like what you mention, there will be temptations from Day 1 when they took power, how long can they sustain? Even if they can sustain that moral characters of theirs, can they be good leader who will not waste the nation wealth we have painstakingly accumulate over all these years?

Just take our next door neighbour, the country was pretty corrupt but it was stable, but after he was toppled, the country is still as corrupt and with the added instability within their own country.

To talk about morality during election campaign is nothing more then propaganda. Just like Miss Universe Contest, the standard wish that each contestants will want if they have one wish when ask will be "World Peace", but after they are crown, how many of them really help put in a gram of effort in this so call world peace? Instead they are swimming in their victory and prizes as the winner of Miss Universe.

Unless this world goes back to stone age, i doubt there will be any so call high moral politician who is holding office around.

It all about propaganda which will only last as long as the election is not over.

I agree with what you said - all politicians are corrupt or likely to become corrupt no matter how morally upright they may seem to be.

Practical Solution : Democracy (Which offers a system of accountability check which though imperfect but is highly practical so that the leaders can be checked by the people for their morality and ability)

Unfortunately in our case, we have elected leaders who were able to legally or legalistically using hypocrisy and justification to get what they want for themselves while avoiding accountability and satisfying their own ego or fulfilling their own needs.

Democracy? Hmm not sure if those things really exist in practical since we can see that in every so-call much more democracy countries then singapore have their own fair share of dirty linens which is as serious as ours.

Ultimately those that can hold office and has the power define what is democracy in their own meaning. That politic i would say. All we can hope to is as long as the country is moving forward and we are not in a dire situation, just close one eye since it better to have stability + a little corruption then no stability + corruption.

Afterall, if you are the one holding the power, will you let your opponent have an easy life knowing they can topple you in the next election? Can you make the right decision in bringing the country to a greater height? Will be be able to reject any form of temptation? Will you truely work for the people on a miserable salary while the rest is enjoying life? There too many will you or can you issues.

Even if you can say yes i do or yes i can, ultimately you will still be in the same position as the ruling party as long as the policies that you implement doesn't meet the eyes of all the people in singapore.

Ultimately i think it no use comparing a western countries ways of governing to our country as different culture background required different form of management. So there no point trying to infuse another country so call good and fair election in singapore. it just don't work this way.

Democracy is not a be-all and end-all or even a trouble-free panacea or specific solution which call can upon and just apply and become sucessful.

We must understand what is democracy from a greater perspective or from the bigger picture. As opposed to democracy we have many other systems from dictatorship to authoritarianism, to communism, and our own pseudo-democracy variously justified as leadership or meritocracy which so far have only come across as unwieldy ad hoc and circumstantial which do not have the sustainability of applications to assure of serving the people's greatest benefits of the greatest number. Often hypocrisy or justifications of all kinds will have to be put up with the results of greater suppressions and oppressions of ordinary people who were finally made to suffer and who finally had to rebel.

Keep in mind there is a need to understand that we need a framework or governing philosophy and democracy offers such a framework from which it gives assurances that those in charge of power will govern fellow human beings in a certain direction towards which all could share and benefit together.

This is where democracy comes in to serve its purpose - a framework or governing philosophy but not a final or exact solution which can be applied without thoughts or further refinements.

Australians' current election of the Labour leaders have demonstrated once again the benefit of democracy as the most stable and sustainable governing process-based philosophy to satisfy the particular needs and aspirations of the people to their advantage. As a framework or philosophy it will continue to do well to guide people into resolving diverse conflicts and work towards better final solutions all of us desire.

It is still a long time before we really see what this new Australian PM can do as well as his ability to deliver his propaganda promise to the people of Australia. Don't forget their ex-PM was also a popular guy when he won back then.

Remember, your frame of democracy and other people frame of democracy is not the same. As long as there is no unity in this definition of democracy, there will always be unhappiness and discontent from people.

This world is imperfect, and the best that human can do is to choose the best out of the worst. And though recently policy from our ruling party may not be good, but nevertheless they have manage to bring Singapore forward over the years in good and bad time.

We are more fortunate then many people in this world. It just how content we want to be.

Seriously, human are a greedy race. Even if the goverment is what you want it to be now, are you sure that all will be content? There won't be discontent at all?

I will bet all my fortune into it that the same old shit will still happen and it just a matter of time. We just got to learn to give and take sometime.

In fact people always said gov give $1 and take back $2, but i met company which give $1 and take back $3.50. So i think it not that bad after all. LOL!!!
