Let Sporeans vote for the Prime Minister

Mouthpiece should just stop their 'wu liao' meaningless guessing game about Singaporeans' choice of their next Prime Minister.
Let Singaporeans excercise their rights as a Citizen to vote : To vote for the next Prime Minister. Throw up couple of candidates including those from minority commnuites and Singaporeans will give you the answer.
Why not just make the PM the Head of State and do away with the 'cho boh' so called elected presidency. -

I think for a President with only ceremonial duties and no powers like what we have in our system, the President can play a role of maintaining political stability in a psychological way.
Because, our President says nothing and does nothing and do not make decisions or carry out policies, he does not offend people or piss people off.
A prime ministers says and does things that very often causes people to become highly agitated and frustrated and du lan. For example, this way alone 2007, our PM has carried out a string of unpopular policies that many people despise.
If the current President is a charming and popular one, as the ceremonial head of state, he can at least offer some sort of psychological relief to the people.
In short, there is at least a public figure that people respect in difficult times.
That is my view. -

By having an election, it would not only give each candidate a platform to reach out and convince voters that race is no barrier to be a good PM but also allow voters to see and hear for themselves who has better ideas to run the country. Minority candidates would perhaps maybe just maybe stand a better chance than in a parliamentary system.

there was only one presidential election so far, the other two the Prataman walkover mainly our government disqualified others for claiming that they did not have the credibility.

This is a good idea. Imagine how many people will vote PAP if they knew before hand that LHL would be Singapore prime minister in the last election. Paying highest salary to someone who is far from best is unjustified and unfair to Singaporeans.
And not to forget let us people voices be heard so that the ridiculous eternal ministers system can be abolished. Prime minister should be a position where true talent and capabilities fit in and not someone who still need Senior and mentor to baby feed. Let say George Bush appoints his father as president mentor and collect millions dollar from tax payers as salary, citizens will go street to protest. -

I agree absolutely with you that we should not pay highest salary to someone who is far from best and this is unjustfied and unfair to Singaporeans. Well, believe strong it is the damn old heck the dad who arranged him to assume the post without consideration if the son has the quality and calibre to take up such challenge. Well, reality and facts have proven the old man made a lousy and stupid choice.
I am all for voting for our PM. Lee Hsien Loong willl never never be our PM if we vote for our PM. He will never be PM now and future if we vote our own PM. However much we want to elect our PM, I don't think the self centred PAP as the current ruling party will allow it. They elect the PM to protect their own selfish interest by ignoring the public/people who give them the chance to run the country. -
