Is there any urgency to push for electric car?

Oil price will not go down! And it will keep going up.Who likes to differ in opine?
Comparing 3 months ago to now, the price have gone up by 50%!!!!
sg relies on oil refining to a large extent.
if all cars become electric in near future,
definitely it will be impacted?
If not why is there no serious push to attract people to buy hybrid / electric instead of traditional petrol car? -
Fully-electric cars need charging up from the wall sockets - which will increase the demand from power stations, so we're screwed that way.
Not enough is being done to promote hybrids as an alternative. I do not for one believe that the tax reductions are enough. -
What about solar power? It's free.
Scientists probably haven't discover how to store the energy long enough in the condenser for later use. -
Singapore is in the equator, and there is plenty of solar energy available.
Perhaps the car manufacturers can consider making the next generation of car to run on a hybrid of solar and biofuel?

funding is not being put into these areas of research for alternative energies.
We all know up until 911, no one cared about alt. energies and electric car.
USA cars are known to be so petrol/diesel hungry. They were complacent. -

Its easy to address your concern. Once JB or KL builds a NUCLEAR plant, electricity will be so cheap and abundant!
Agree. For a start, in the initial phase, hybrids using hydrogen , biodiesel or cooking oil, palm oil etc oil, should be promoted already!!
I propose the garment help cut down the tariffs on such hybrids to make their prices on par with petrol cars. I think this is possible in near future.
As soon as the price is the same. Believe you me. People will buy even if their usage of the car requires some re-learning. Just imagine, petrol not a cost issue anymore!!

if oil demand goes down, their bonus may be affected thus I doubt they will support or push for this idea. Humans are not moral. They want money. They are selfpreservatory, they are selfish by nature, they are self-centered by nature. They greedy in short. They will anything to stay in the money)
There is no law in this universe that a car -- a vehicle that moves you from pointA to pointB, must use combustion engine. Its only so because of complacency, IGNORANCE, stupidity and herd mentality which is shallow and follower-mindset. No future. -

Its just that for money reasons, not enough funding is put into this area.
Probably, large oil business related organisations have put money in to make sure this does not get realised for obvious reasons.
and they have the power and money to do that.
it is my conviction that electric car technology should have been made economical to replace petrol cars by now had funding and emphasis been put into this area long ago. -
