No idea but it is not small. There has never been a week in Australia that I don't hear a Singaporean speaking at the mall, even in dear Canberra. Singlish sticks out.Originally posted by will4:What is the population of the Sporen community in Australia?
There are pros and cons in every country in this world. In Singapore, we think that the weather in western countries are good (nice cool weather, nice humidity, etc).Originally posted by reddressman:Since you say this.
I also happen to know quite many who have recently started the process to withdrawn their CPF entirely, pre-retirement.
These are 2 highly experienced doctors who brought away with them human capital of their children. As docs , they have many children becos they could afford it.
Now, both docs are in a very nice place. A huge mansion with many real nice views. No longkangs whatsoever kind of views.
Last year, a young white collar acquaintance also started the withdraw cpf
process with his wife. They now also enjoying sceneries and weather that money , no matter how much, cannot buy. For example, can you turn a humid place into not-as-humid? even if you are Billy the Gate, money cannot buy you better humidity. Not to say wonders that nature has to offer. Reasons why people spend thousands every year and risk lives taking the plane just to grab a few breath of this nature's fresh air. I mean people going on vacation lah.
So, enjoy lah.
He probably got kicked out of Australia for some misdemeanor hence that view.Originally posted by will4:How do u know?
An Australian white is English's 2nd class and an Australian asian is an Australian white's 2nd class.Originally posted by will4:How do u know?
Speaking about the immigration to Australia, the changes to the CPF which forced local to buy annuity until 85 will might cause more local to give upOriginally posted by fymk:No idea but it is not small. Australia is a Sh.it hole i'll never step into and it is a piece of pandang cake as far as i am concerned.Originally posted by fymk:He probably got kicked out of Australia for some misdemeanor hence that view.
Singapore has alot of good things about her but the government is not too focused on its citizens.Originally posted by eagle:There are pros and cons in every country in this world. In Singapore, we think that the weather in western countries are good (nice cool weather, nice humidity, etc).
However, people in western countries think Singapore is good (forever summer, etc).
The pastures in another place always seem greener.![]()
Nobody is pointing a gun at you and forcing you to migrate. And even if you want to come in ,I doubt that they will take you in.Originally posted by Daddy!!:Australia is a Sh.it hole i'll never step into and it is a piece of pandang cake as far as i am concerned.
just for the 2nd part of this statement, u could be sued till you are bankrupt.Originally posted by fymk:Singapore has alot of good things about her but the government is not too focused on its citizens.
Annuity has its own advantages but also disadvantages.Originally posted by will4:Speaking about the immigration to Australia, the changes to the CPF which forced local to buy annuity until 85 will might cause more local to give up
their local citizenship, Spore PR also not spared.
who do you think you are?Originally posted by fymk:Nobody is pointing a gun at you and forcing you to migrate. And even if you want to come in ,I doubt that they will take you in.
LOL .Originally posted by eagle:just for the 2nd part of this statement, u could be sued till you are bankrupt.
Just say citizens like us don't have the feeling that the government focuses on us. Like that they cannot sue u on feelings![]()
Why do you care then? Didn't you say you are not stepping into Australia?Originally posted by Daddy!!:who do you think you are?
This is the most accurate description of the mindset of these people.Originally posted by eagle:whether people migrate a not, it is ultimately their decision. However, for people who migrated to send complains of Singapore back to Singapore, it is to me
1) a sign of mocking of people who want to stay here
2) a sign that they are rich enough to migrate
3) a sign that they are trying to justify their own actions, both to others and most importantly, to themselves
This is the fairest and most neutral statement in the debate of migration. Bravo! clap clap clap.Originally posted by eagle:For me, my stand is neutral. I would base my calculations and conclusions on hard facts then on opinions. No matter how much I proclaim that the living standards are higher in Germany, there are certain things that you cannot really calculate, for eg, whether you can merge into the society, whether you will be despised, your friends, family, children, etc.... There are still many unexpected and intangible factors around
Have you even been there? No? Well then how the f*ck would you know? Dumb cunt.Originally posted by Daddy!!:Australia is a Sh.it hole i'll never step into and it is a piece of pandang cake as far as i am concerned.
isn't Global 4th Class not S.hit enough for an Asian?Originally posted by jondizzle foshizzle:Have you even been there? No? Well then how the f*ck would you know? Dumb cunt.
Thx 4 the advice dude...Originally posted by fymk:Make yourself mobile globally. However you have to be prepared to adapt and start from square 1.
Another thing for what's it is worth - prepare for the culture shock - people here are very vocal. Alot of things function differently . When it is your credit , don't let others take it. The first two years are the hardest imho because you are struggling to find your base and adapt. .
Find support with friends you already know but don't just stay within the Singaporean community because you will be isolating yourself from their culture. Join your colleagues for afterwork drinks - that is the best way of networking . And their weddings are fun - almost everyone gets drunk cept for the designated drivers who look very pissed off because they can't drink.
Don't think life is laid back all the time in Australia - alot of people have the misconception that working in Australia is laid back. It is yet it is not . People here tend to be laid back when they can but when it comes to the crunch , some work 7 day weeks sometimes to meet deadlines.
That's a well-reasoned post. However, wouldn't 1) and 3) also apply to those who insist that people who have migrated have made a mistake?Originally posted by eagle:whether people migrate a not, it is ultimately their decision. 3) a sign that they are trying to justify their own actions, both to others and most importantly, to themselves
Of course, they may have valid reasons, or have done substantial analysis and calculations for their decision.
For me, my stand is neutral. I would base my calculations and conclusions on hard facts then on opinions. Ah but Eagle , when people ask the migrants for opinions of another country , there are certain elements who , without provocation, will attempt to portray migrants as dissidents attempting to trick others into migrating.Originally posted by sgdiehard:quote:
