a)Sorry wrong choice of words. SMEs higher less people. Labour intensive not the correct phrase. NMCs hire alot more people. (comparing within the same industry). Lets say, the 25% quota of FT. NMCs will save more, due to economies of scale. Again, assuming the firm in question is using FTs to save cost. Which is the point of this thread. Where an MP in the 1st post said that there is a danger of Firms using FTs as a cost takedown measure. What she didn't know or say was, its already happening and the govt is making it easier.Originally posted by Gazelle:I think you got it all wrong again.
a) No MNCs will invest a labour intensive operation in Singapore, if they want cheap labour, they go to China, Vietnam, India or other developing countries.
b) SMEs usually has to compete on price and fight for smaller projects because they lack financial power, technology and branding. And I believe SMEs are the biggest employer of cheap FT in Singapore.
c) One of the reasons why high tech companies are investing in Singapore is because we have ample supply of skilled labours (FT or local) it is not because we have cheap labour.
d) I have no clue about what target, deficit GDP you are talking abuot. Lets skip this discussion as it will lead to nowhere.
You mustn't blame these ministers.... afterall, they are just names behind a set of predefined Orders set out by you know who....Originally posted by qlqq9:The sickening PAP is just giving excuse to bring in more FTs that is all. As the Chinese saying goes "fingers bending outwards not inwards". They the PAP are all for FTs, they make Singapore the land of FTs. These sickening ungrateful PAP does not give a damn about the contribution by locals to thinki they owe us the responsibility as our gahmen to protect our rice bowl.
Ng Eng Hen has not been helpful to the locals since he takes over as minister for manpower. He is just another self centred, bloodsucking and hopeless scumbag like th rest of the PAP.
Why not huh? To me anyone in Singapore who seriously, genuinely want to serve the nation will not want to make the choice to join PAP, knowing how this thunder strike party functions and how they treat the people by force, by oppression.Originally posted by HyperFocal:You mustn't blame these ministers.... afterall, they are just names behind a set of predefined Orders set out by you know who....
Because your own people cannot do they job, or cannot accept lower pay or there aren't simply enough of your people around.Originally posted by FireIce:why open the door wider for foreigners instead of our own ppl?
Hey, you sound cold blooded like the PAP. So you are telling people you are like PAP who cares about nothing about the locals but money making. Sucks! If you support whatever the gahmen is doing then why migrate, come back and do your part to support them.Originally posted by Coquitlam:Because your own people cannot do they job, or cannot accept lower pay or there aren't simply enough of your people around.
As a business owner, this is labor heaven....now we have more to choose from where previously there was little or none. Think of it as your gahmen achieving its aim of supporting the local economy by lowering business cost and also to cast its net wider to help increase the population target to 6.5mil thru citizenship conversion. There is nothing that the locals can do about it...this is globalization.....your gahmen is telling you subtly either to accept it or ship out.
well this is the new world order man....either accept it or ship out is what I hear the gahmen telling you....besides I heard not too long ago that your gahmen will make sure that locals get first priority and now they are doing this to you all???? hmmmmm....you sure have a 'good' gahmen....and oh by the way, there will be lots more policies coming up to achieve the 6.5mil target.....stay tuned to the same channelOriginally posted by mancha:Hey!
I'll be out of a job coming 01/01/2008.
The reported job market looks rosy.
Now this news.
I am now in the hospitality sector, forced out of the banking sector by restructuring.

I am a Singaporean in Singapore.

while FT rule singapore.
When is FT going into parliment and kicking all those local ministers out?
I would like to see 25% of our local ministers job going to FT.
yes, i'm very angry by the news.
But, anyway, i never regard myself as sgian since few yrs back.
Once i earn enuff money, off this island i will go.
My dear, you have to be cold blooded to survive in the cut throat business world......Of course if I had a choice, I'd do something but even the civil servants tell me they don't even bother, just accept the system here....don't you already know? or do you want to do something about it first by going out to wear a red Tshirt and protest....we have known too long that it is unwise to go against the system here cause of you know who....like you, we all despise them but what do you want to do? We just work the system to earn another revenue stream while others including msyelf have already emigrated. Bottomline is if hiring FTs lowers our business costs, so be it.Originally posted by qlqq9:Hey, you sound cold blooded like the PAP. That is true.....and I heard he is not well liked either.......besides....your best bet is if you have a business, have your ops based overseas...but of course he does what he does as you know what party he belongs toOriginally posted by qlqq9:Before eng hen cameout with this pile of nuisance, my friend told me his company is small with 15 staff. Among the 15 staff, there are only three (3) Singaporeans employed in the Company, the rest of them are FTs.
Now the eng hen is getting more FTs to make locals lose their rice bowls. Remember what one does, what goes around, comes around, what goes up must come down.
Seems that all these sickening PAP ministers exist to serve the purpose of PAP and care less or don't bother about the people.Originally posted by Coquitlam:That is true.....and I heard he is not well liked either.......besides....your best bet is if you have a business, have your ops based overseas...but of course he does what he does as you know what party he belongs to
Agreed....hey by the wa, we should all gather together to frame up our renunciation forms to form a montage...take a pic and send it back to little red dot huh.....I'm sure there are lots more who will join usOriginally posted by qlqq9:Seems that all these sickening PAP ministers exist to serve the purpose of PAP and care less or don't bother about the people.
eng hen is just another sicko who can't be bothered to go all the way to serve the people lah. Saw CNA programme which showed his typical day of work as a minister. Saw the way he met the people in his constituency. He is superficial and gives the impression that he will not go all the way to help people, he will only do the job as he is paid to do the job. I can't detect any sense of commitment he has to serve the people with his utmost effort.
When he first became the minister, I kind of think well of him. AFter watching him on the CNA programme I mentioned above, I changed my mind about him.
