Stamina required for 2.4km runs is different from stamina required to do recreational sports. You have to build that stamina up gradually not go straight into running . Some can do that but there are always others who cannot.
Heart cannot take the pressure ....BAM...drop dead.

Nowadays, the NSF are so weak. I think he collapse due to lack of training, everyday siting in aircon room doing admin work. The heart obviously can't take it if suddenly expected to run 2.4km without any training.
