The fact that he treats the issue of basic human rights with such little regard and his views regarding the 'inferior' and the 'elite' IMO already makes him not qualifiable. No benevolent leader will treat the issue of human rights so lightly and treat people as livestock to be classified 'inferior' or 'elite'

I think it is pointless to debate whether the ministers are corrupted or not. So what if you are not corrupted now? By your definition, those ministers paid a low salary are not corrupted?
But I guess the real problem is not about the high salary per se, but whether they deserve it. If our government is really really good, like traffic jams disappear overnight, do you think they deserve the highest salary in the world then? -

what is the justification to increase their salary 60% just the beginning of this year and then another 21% next year. Is there super performance on their part? The other world leaders who really did great then should ask for 200% increases in their salaries ... The problem is when there is screw ups, these ministers are never penalised. By this question, it is clear the TS is barking up the wrong tree. Who cares if LKY is a great first-world leader? He might...his wife might...his family might.
For the vast majority of Singaporeans, the question is whether he has successfully lifted thousands of Singaporeans from poverty. Do we employ Filipino maids or do our wives work as maids in the Philippines? Do we live in modern flats with safe running water or in attap houses and defecate into the same river where our children are bathing? -

is singapore a first world country?
if first world means aligned with nato, then no singapore is a third world country. much like switzerland perhaps.
if first world is equated to mean developed country (vague definition), then singapore is pErhaps one.
and lee kuan yew is the man mostly responsible for singapore's transformation. however what is great leadership needs to be defined?
the TS cited three american's (origin) names, washington, lincoln, and churchill (by birth, his mother=churchilll part american). and one chinese, xiaoping.
i think this gives us a clue as to his own bias and his leanings.
