doing well is a subjective word and it really depends on who you are comparing and what you are comparing. If you want to impress others that you are doing well, do it in the real world not in the open forums.Originally posted by LazerLordz:What's so glorifying about that? I never liked false humility, which is one of the flaws of many Singaporeans.
Acquiring skills is not going to solve the problem. Raising a skill level from A to B, the same situation will arise. Another FT at skill lvl B will be competition. Whats wrong for seeking a level playing field with regards to job hunting? Whats wrong with preventing foreigners from becoming the preferred choice in your own home?Originally posted by oxford mushroom:Yet another thread about losers who cannot compete ranting about FTs who are able to do a better job for lower pay
Get off your butt and acquire better skills. Protectionism will not work...it is survival pressure that brings out the fittest in a community. Decades of protecting bumiputra interests in our neighbour only serve to create a Malay community that has fallen further behind and ill-equipped to face the challenges posed by the new economic powers of China and India.
If you won't work harder for less when there is a FT willing and able to fill your job, you deserve to lose it!
Correct, its subjective. If he or she feels that he/she is doing well, then so be it. Don't really have to keep goading people and harping on details you know. End derailing even your own thread.Originally posted by Gazelle:doing well is a subjective word and it really depends on who you are comparing and what you are comparing. Lazerlord and I have our disagreements . Walesa and I clashed over a thread before and quite badly. Yet with both forumners as well as the others I debated with, we can respect each other. For you, I can't say respect is mutual or anything.Originally posted by Gazelle:doing well is a subjective word and it really depends on who you are comparing and what you are comparing. Sorry, for the late reply. You were asking me how many people the army can take in right?Originally posted by eagle:I also admire your way of ignoring questions when you could not answer them. When your points are valid, I support. When your points are not, you fail to defend when questioned
I assume you have called and I shall wait for your reply on how many vacancies they have before we continue. By tonight?Originally posted by Gazelle:Sorry, for the late reply. You were asking me how many people the army can take in right?
I have just called up MINDEF, they are searching through their database and they shall get back to me very soon. Do you want to leave down a contact number so that I can get them to contact you directly?
OR should I tell you that Singapore Army has vacancy for 345,689 Singaporeans who cant compete with FT. If you dont believe you can always proof me wrong.
Yes, while waiting for MINDEF to come back to us, can you please call MINDEF to varify if my numbers are accurate.Originally posted by eagle:I assume you have called and I shall wait for your reply on how many vacancies they have before we continue. By tonight?
If you want, I can easily find out if Singapore Army has enough vacancies for 345k Singaporeans. By tonight, and I mean it.
I don't need to call. I only need to wait for a family member, who is a MINDEF officer to confirm tonightOriginally posted by Gazelle:Yes, while waiting for MINDEF to come back to us, can you please call MINDEF to varify if my numbers are accurate.
The vacancy is not just for Singaporeans, they are for Singaporeans who cannot compete with FT in Singapore.
Before we discuss further do you want to list down the addition taxes Singaporeans are paying as compared to FT?Originally posted by MS:Gazelle and oxford mushroom,
I think the problem with these people who're displeased abt FT is not a matter abt them being losers. It's the problem with they're paying taxes to support a hopeless government who doesn't take care of them.
I always remember one very good phrase from a famous French literature redone as a Japanese program, "I will not pledge alliegence to the country who will not protect me."
If we can transit it into our local context, "I will not support a government who will not take care of me."
The citizens are paying with taxes on every aspect to support a government. So every single cent spent must be worthwhile. We have to squeeze every single drip of quality from the government when the government is also squeezing every single dollar wherever possible from the people.
The French king Louis 16 was an imbecile who feasted on his people's sufferings. Imposed stupid laws to satisfy his personal vendetta. Yet he lived in luxury with endless sufferings to his people. He thought he was doing the people a service with his policies. Eventually overthrown by his very own people whom he was supposed to take care of. He was executed by Maximilien Robespierre, the man who was largely responsible for the reign of terror in France. His wife was also executed less than a year. His children tortured and also succumbed to the hardships the people inflicted on them.
The leader can think that he is doing a service to the people. But if it is not in line with the people's agenda, the public will be very dissatisfied. The leader can suppress the people with fear for many years. But look at what happened to Saddam. His political fall led to his demise in the most unceremonious way. Executed by the people who gloated his death and circulated his video around.
All this will take place in Singapore if the cost of living in singapore becomes so unbearable. Because the rich will simply dump the country and leave. While those who cannot or do not want to will turn against the government to make a change. One great way is through election. The reason why the PAP is still in power is because the conditions are not as bad as to warrant an expulsion. But if this rate is to continue without efforts to change the country, the French revolution, Thailand coup, Myanmar demonstrations can repeat itself in the country.
I certainly do not want that to happen.
However for the rest, it will make no difference to rant in this forum. Oust the government if it is unbearable. But bear in mind that a political instability equals to a dip in national performance and investor's confidence which will mean lesser jobs, lesser money. So the hopeless government can only be ousted tactfully in order to preserve the entire nation's well being. We only want to be better off. Not worse.
Most Singaporean only want to have a stable career, have a decent roof over the head, drive a reasonable continental car not taking public transport, earning a decent income. It doesn't matter who is the government so long they can provide.
You are kidding right?Originally posted by Gazelle:Yes, while waiting for MINDEF to come back to us, can you please call MINDEF to varify if my numbers are accurate.

eh, he didn't mention MINDEF will take in FTs lehOriginally posted by fymk:You are kidding right?
MINDEF will not take in FTs , especially not in operational roles which involve national security.
Once again , you have insulted Singapore's MINDEF and Singaporeans again.

Ya, this statement is a claim that the vacancies are there for Singaporeans who cannot make it.Originally posted by fymk:No but he mentioned and I quote "The vacancy is not just for Singaporeans, they are for Singaporeans who cannot compete with FT in Singapore. "
The above statement he made is rather insulting for both MINDEF and Singaporeans alike.
have you check out the career section at MINDEF website? Is your family member working in mindef a middle age man or senior citizen?Originally posted by eagle:I don't need to call. I only need to wait for a family member, who is a MINDEF officer to confirm tonight
Once again, you have twisted the question. It is for middle age workers.
And in which website did it say there are vacancies for 345k Singaporeans?Originally posted by Gazelle:have you check out the career section at MINDEF website? Is your family member working in mindef a middle age man or senior citizen?
You have failed to grasp the main point of my message.Originally posted by Gazelle:Before we discuss further do you want to list down the addition taxes Singaporeans are paying as compared to FT?
Dont ask me where I get the number, highly confidential..Originally posted by eagle:And in which website did it say there are vacancies for 345k Singaporeans?
