thanks , I agree, and forgot that PRs can be sons of PRs who are unemployed shaking legs in school. my colleague's son reached 18 and he sent him back to indian ocean and renounced his PR. He even told me honestly this is the reason.Originally posted by will4:I not sure whether to become a PR need job but for those existing PR, they need to extend their PR at immigration. ha ha ha you are right. Other than these two, there is this one who called himself rock star (now disappeared) loves attacking forumers whenever what they say don't please him. He kept encouraging people to surf theonlinecitizen and kept promoting it. Now that theonlinecitizen is known to be PAP controlled we don't see him here. He is one who is somehow practising double standard.Originally posted by reddressman:Hey , I observe that you and fireice will jump out and try to attack TS messages whenever the TRUTH hurts?
Dun make your stands too clear.
The forummers in sgforums may not like your attitudes of attacking TS asking logical questions.
btw,
What effort have we seen our Opposition in asking this on our behalf?
What has the so-called Opposition done in this aspect?
You ask us to ask the MOM.
Why don't you 1st go ask your MOM?
Why don't Sylvia Lim go and ask the MOM?
Why don't Low Tia Kiang go and ask the MOM?
Why don't Chiam See Tong go and ask MOM?
How many decades does it take to get the figures?
What is the EFFICIENCY?
Why don't the MPs and Ministers go and ask the MOM?
Afterall, the People are relying on them to get things done and given them certain mandate and power to do work for the people.
So-called educated like so great singaporeans, what have you got to say?
and, Bear, answer me, CAN YOU HANDLE THE TRUTH?
Well, whatever is the facts.Originally posted by qlqq9:ha ha ha you are right.....
Ask MOM may not be a good idea, as we know they can manipulate with figures and statistics. They sure said nice things about the job market and deny the fact that more foreigners are employed.
I have been to companies whereby they employ so many foreigners for the jobs that our locals can do. For eg, I was at a company in the east where there are 20 people. Of the 20 people, three are Singaporeans working there and the rest are FTs and FW. They even employed a Bangladeshi or Indian from India for the position of cleaner/tea lady (tea man?). How sad to see this! OUr inconsiderate and selfish gahmen keep taking care of their own rice bowls and ignore to protect the rice bowls of the locals. Without us they can't possibly get their world class salary, yet they do nothing to protect our rice bowls. Very sickening and infuriating to have a gahmen who exist to meet their own needs and heck care about the needs of the nation. It is time people of Singapore be bold to give opposition a chance.
Yes, and that is the root of the problem - the people keep voting for them. By voting them in, of course they take it that whatever they do for the people are agreeable and acceptable to the people, and they go on to take more and more advantage on the nation.Originally posted by reddressman:Well, whatever is the facts.

The PEOPLE are the root of the mandate.
They gave the mandate.
Good or bad I will not comment for super obvious reasons.
I must protect myself.
Why the Opposition is powerless to demand a clear answer as to who took up the jobs created?Originally posted by qlqq9:... Give oppositions the chance to run the country.
To get the figures, they need to approach MOM, so do you think MOM the hen will be kind to release figures to the oppositions? Even if hen releases info, is the data/info accurate? Can we be sure hen does not manipulate with the data/figures?Originally posted by reddressman:Why the Opposition is powerless to demand a clear answer as to who took up the jobs created?
Are the jobs taken up by :
1. Foreigners who are non-PRs?
- If so, what types of jobs are these? Factory labor? Construction labor?
- How many EPs , WPs, SPs?
2. How many singaporeans occupied the created jobs?
As far as I know, the Opposition is unable to even give this information to the People by simply a s k i n g. they are given the power to talk in parl.
If they are unable to do the job, let the next better more daring people have a go. Money should be spent on Opposition to help the people, not that they have not done anything. Just a reminder.
There are many who wants to support the Opposition. But they have yet to prove they are capable enough. Give us the figures. Why figures not available? What is there not to show???????????????????????
just my 2 cents.
we tax payers pay Hen 1.9 million salary,p.a and yet he can not come up with the breakdown of figures, just simply say 172,400 jobs created, who would believe, the media is controlled by them, million dollar salary, but the work not that tough, cant justify the pay, what is his duty? Drink kopi??Originally posted by qlqq9:To get the figures, they need to approach MOM, so do you think MOM the hen will be kind to release figures to the oppositions? Singapore today enjoys strong economic growth accompanied by plentiful new jobs - an all-time high of 176,000 in 2006, of which 90,900 went to locals. The economic prospects continue to look promising. We have a strong investment pipeline with a number of large infrastructural projects being completed over the next few years. Growth is broad-based across all industry sectors, especially finance, info-communications, marine and process industries. An estimated 450,000 jobs will be available in the next 5 years if the economy grows between 4.5% to 6.5% each year. These positive outcomes are a result of confidence in our economic and labour policies which are business-responsive and pro-growth.Source: http://www.mom.gov.sg/publish/momportal/en/press_room/mom_speeches/2007/20070522-2nd_Reading_Speech.html

Hence, if we were to give an estimate, out of 172,400 jobs created, at least 80k jobs should have gone to locals.
Does that sort of half-answer the question by TS? The main point here is, there are still a lot of jobs created for the locals...
GEt millions and millions of $$$$ for salary but produce below par, substandard performance. Lousy! Even if they are able to show the breakdown, how sure are you that they don't manipulate the figures to suit themselves?Originally posted by t_a_s:we tax payers pay Hen 1.9 million salary,p.a and yet he can not come up with the breakdown of figures, just simply say 172,400 jobs created, who would believe, the media is controlled by them, million dollar salary, but the work not that tough, cant justify the pay, what is his duty? hey I am not into all these figures from them. FRankly, if they want to mislead Singaporeans, you think they will be truthful to publish real accurate figures? Don't need figures, just go round companies in Singapore, you will be able to see there are getting more and more FTs and FWs to replace Singaporeans. Not too long ago, I went to a company and among the 20 staff there, only 3 locals are working there. So pathetic! They even get a Indian FW to do the job of a tea lady cum cleaner. I shake my head.Originally posted by eagle:then what?
first, everyone complain that there are no figures to support their claim
then now that there are figures, you say you don't believe.
What else do you want?![]()

Really hard to please leh...
This is something inevitable in every country whose economy is growing faster than its neighbours. The only hope is that there are extra jobs that will spill over to Singaporeans.Originally posted by qlqq9:hey I am not into all these figures from them. You need to be working and be affected to see the reality and facts of life created by the leegime in Singapore. Problem is many people are just interested in statistics, figures, theory and refuse and ignore the reality and facts. People can create false figures, theory, statistics but reality is reality. Reality and facts tell it all.Originally posted by eagle:This is something inevitable in every country whose economy is growing faster than its neighbours. so... point out any fact that none of the jobs created were spilled over to Singaporeans...?Originally posted by qlqq9:You need to be working and be affected to see the reality and facts of life created by the leegime in Singapore. I myself believe that the statistics we get is most likely true, thus having a direct correlation with reality. It is the interpretation and analysis of these figures that can be subjected to questioning. It is up to us whether we want to embark on a critical thinking to analyse whether the selective conclusions given to us by the media can be totally correct.
YOu need to get to the working world to know what reality is. I share life experience, reality and facts. I believe in facts and reality more than theory and statistics. There is nothing to do with generalisation, it is reality and facts. Think it is just "dui niu dan qing" to talk to you about the working life. I have already shared and if you don't accept the fact and reality of the happening, there is nothing I can do. REality is what is happening in the real world. To me if one base on theory to analyse on the present happening (reality) it is just not completely appropriate. That is all I wanna say. You need to be working and face with problems then you will know. I hope I don't need to keep communicating with you about the reality and facts of working life, work/job employment problems/figures, for I can see that it is going to be in vain.Originally posted by eagle:so... point out any fact that none of the jobs created were spilled over to Singaporeans...?
Problem is, many people are quick to generalise and point out any mistakes or wrongs before deeper analysis and thinking. There are certainly bad points in our system, but there are also good points.

So what is reality to you? What have you seen that you can share with us so that we can agree with your point?
This guy just can't accept the reality and facts. There is no point explaining to him. He "bu jian kuan cai bu liu lei". Didn't the leegime said that there are no destitutes in Singapore, but we see so many people picking up cans from the rubbish bins to sell, people sleeping in the void deck. So which is the truth? What the leegime said is the truth or people picking cans from rubbish bins to sell and people sleeping in the void deck is the truth? So I wonder, must one analyse on these to decide which is the truth.Originally posted by reddressman:What is true is one thing.
What is the TRUTH is another.
What is true is the basic minimun of all expectations that needs to be met.
What is the TRUTH is what the PEOPLE should expect.
A box of chocolate has chocolates. This statement can be true.
But what is the TRUTH do you know?
The TRUTH can be , i stress, can be, that of these chocolates some are fouled.
What is to be expected is the TRUTH and not just some trues. Even if all revealed are true, 1 serious truth can still not be revealed.
What is going on PEOPLE?
What have you done today?
The truth is that there are hardworking folks who rise from poverty to become millionnaires. The truth is that there are foreigners who have come penniless and work 10 hours a day, 7 days a week for $600 a month before their contribution is recognized by their employers. The truth is that with equal access to educational opportunities, the son of a vegetable seller and a toilet cleaner is able to gain a doctorate from Oxford University.Originally posted by qlqq9:This guy just can't accept the reality and facts. The truth is there are some people who have one track mind and are quick to jump at people. The truth is there are people who are selective to accept the truth according to their belief and one track mind. The truth is someone out of no where comes back here again and blah blah blah. What you said make sense but you are too selective to accept and reject the truth and reality. I doubt your credibility.Originally posted by oxford mushroom:The truth is that there are hardworking folks who rise from poverty to become millionnaires. And the truth is that there are losers who just sit on their butts and rant against foreigners who are more talented, more hardworking and more appreciative of the opportunities they have been given.
