Jenin has become known for violent clashes in recent years
Fears that the sweltering summer sun could spoil the supplies of sandwich fillings convinced organisers to prepare their baguettes in advance.
But a mere 10 minutes under the burning sun turned the freshly-baked baguettes rock hard.
Visiting health officials banned the bakers from filling the sandwich, citing concerns for public health.
There were plans to hand the sandwich out to the city's poor after sealing the record.

Fymk, it is obvious to me that you are very upset by the incident. I can understand that. As a woman you emphathize with the victim and coming from a different culture with different social norms, you are horrified by the treatment she received, as am I.
However, whether you agree with the law or not, posting here will not change the fact that it is the law there and the victim broke it.
This in no way subtracts from the horror she has suffered, the pain, the humiliation and a ruined life.
I'd suggest sending a donation to the women's group that are fighting for women's rights there. It's a greater step towards change then continuing an argument in this forum.
