This man let Lee Kuan Yew live even though he had the means to order Lee's assasination at any time. Instead, he met Lee Kuan Yew to discuss a common united front against British rule to fight for independence.
This man controlled all the underground terrorist forces in Singapore.....
He also controlled some City Councillors (MPs) working above ground.
He could have destroyed Singapore, but chose not to.......and today no one remembers him.
Had he ordered an all out campaign to destroy Singapore, he will go down into the history books.......like Sadaam Hussein.....

My point is : Let the schools teach everything about what happened in the past.......not some sanitised version.

What he meant was that he allowed all these people to live, although he could have destroyed eveyone, including PAP leaders. hence his role in history should be openly assessed.

Fang Chuang Pi destroy Singapore? I think that is exaggerated lah.
If he was strong enough to destroy Singapore, he wouldn't had wanted to forge an alliance with Lee Kuan Yew.
Lee Kuan Yew also double-crossed him.
The british also would had sent troops to deal with the communist underground in Singapore.
The british also planted a lot of agents in the communist parties at the time.
Lai Teck, the leader of the CPM, if you read Chin Peng's memoirs, was a british agent.
