critics, shouldn't they be finding a solution rather then to criticize only?

Another simple solution you should impose on yourself before you suggest to others, "if you don't like to listen to others complaining, then leave the forum, nobody tying you to a chair at knifepoint forcing you to listen to our discussions (complains according to you).
Not everybody qualifies for immigration status in other countries, so telling others to leave is not wholly possible.
Most of the time, it's those who defends the government against the complainers that resort to insults first.
I think TS should practice what he preaches first, else will turn out like P4P hypocrites.![]()

I agree many forumers do produce facts. But they are some who don'tOriginally posted by googoomuck:I do see many forum members producing facts from other sources in their discussions. The reason they do so is because ST has selectively chose what to print and what not to print. Many people know that ST is a govt mouthpiece.
Why don't you produce your facts for us to research and analyze for a change?
about criticizing just from emotions and without prior facts and analysis?Originally posted by AndrewPKYap:if you are not interested in finding solutions, then just criticize... and let those paid to find solutions, find them...

Children should not engage in politics, because they have hardly live and worked in the system. They know very little about the outside world other than the confines of school and home. So...., maybe you should finish your education, finish your national service and work a few years before engaging in political discussions. As such, you hardly see any pre-pubescent politician in parliament. More often so, when these children are the result of propaganda supplanted by the dominant political party now.Originally posted by eagle:Again, you should point out how I resorted to insults first, in which thread that I have a contribution in.
Fact: My complaint is different. I base it on facts, and complaining about people who complained without prior research and analysis and facts. How could it be similar? Please advise, thanks.
Finally, in your opinion, why would one not be be able to qualify for immigration status?
And you want to claim you did research and analysis? Your first paragraph already shows your lack of analysis. maybe you should finish your education, finish your national service and work a few years before engaging in political discussionsOriginally posted by maurizio13:Children should not engage in politics, because they have hardly live and worked in the system. Anyway, your school holidays is just about over, time to get back to school to study. Study well, get good grades, hope you qualify for further education in one of the prestigous universities overseas.
As it would prove, you don't even have knowledge of what qualifies a person as an immigrant in another country. Not every Tom, Dick and Harry qualifies for immigration to a similar country.![]()
What other topics do you want to teach us grown up folks?![]()
I don't participate in political discussions with small boys who haven't even make their keep to support themselves.
Good luck!

So which type are u? The type who want to convince or the type that just want to let off steam?Originally posted by AndrewPKYap:... if you want to convince someone, yes, you have to be logical, rational, form valid arguments... but if people just want to let out steam... I don't see a problem...
My guess is, the way we post in this forum might have been somewhat shaped by a few uncouth forumers who hurl insults at the slightest of provocation. This is definitely due to, as you have mentioned, our inherent defensiveness, narrow mindedness and pettiness.Originally posted by CX:So which type are u? Letting off steam is fine too... The problem comes when pple come in and take their frustration out on other forumers who are just hanging around, similarly posting a point of view.
Proponents of free speech will say that everyone is free to say whatever they want even if it is utter rubbish. But many forumers here often forget the 2nd part: That one may disagree, but we must still respect the right of the other person to say it.
Angry words telling pple to shut up and insulting pple is free speech? I don't think so if such words interferes with the rights of the other person to voice his or her views.
It appears sometimes that Singaporeans cannot take criticisms. Its quite tragic... Everybody's a critic but no one wants to be criticised... How can the society progress this way?
I think we're guilty of varying degrees of defensiveness, narrow mindedness and pettiness.
Might not be a bad idea if we can develop a more gentlemanly (or ladylike) form of discourse instead of flaming, insulting and trolling.
