laughable freak story..Pls go and make frankenstein..better still...Originally posted by SpecOps87:Correct me if i'm wrong...but i've heard of some of the older generation saying that Mr. X once had this policy or like STRONG recommendation for people of the same calibre ie. ITE with ITE, POLY with POLY, JC with JC, Deg. with Deg. sorta marriage so as to ensure the offsprings are of higher calibre and not cross-bred to end up having freaks. Is that true?

if this is the case, i prefer to remain single...Originally posted by charlize:Ok, ok, you win.
Go get married, have 3 wonderful kids, get a small car, get a small HDB flat with a low paying job.
Make sure you save up some money for your kids tertiary education in 20 years' time and also some money enough for your retirement.

change job got higher pay or not?..study got higher pay or nnot...u will be wasting yr time before u found out that all these do not work here...Originally posted by weiwei83:who said poly must earn less than degree? There are always exceptions.
Blame the guy for not working hard/change job, get promotion and earn more.
Blame the girl for being too practical.
or simply blame that their love for each other is simply not enough.
I dunnoe man...till now I wonder who was this influential Mr. X...tsktsk.Originally posted by JayJay3335:laughable freak story..come on, this sort of thing is not proven to be true..
u heard of families where parents are not so educated but children are distinction grade graduates?

Anyway, I believe the theory is true (at least to me) womenfolk my age (18-21) prefer guys from well to do families. I'm embarrassed to be privileged that my parents gave me platinum supp. credit cards. Recently I went out with a girl whom I had known for quite some time, but didn't have the opportunity to date at all. Her expectation of a guy is must have looks, brains and $$.
So on our outing when I paid for our meal with the card, u could see that her eyes widened. And she asked to see the card as well. From then, she has always taken the initiative to ask me out etc. This brings me to the deduction that sadly....and most tragically...money is a big motivating factor...at least for that girl. Ps. I'm not flaunting or anything, in fact I'm embarrassed to be privileged and have left my cards at home since that experience and kept this particular girl at arms length, limited to only MSN conversations.
I mean, I'm only 20 and what I have is what my parents give me. If she wants to be well off...she shud go after my dad man, not me.
Now you have the advantage, why not use her and then give her the boot, like throw away old clothes?Originally posted by SpecOps87:I dunnoe man...till now I wonder who was this influential Mr. X...tsktsk.

this girl is maybe 18-21, still young..Originally posted by googoomuck:Now you have the advantage, why not use her and then give her the boot, like throw away old clothes?
Actually why should I even be bothered? I will waste time, money and ultimately end up with nothing. On top of that, given her character, she will definitely badmouth me and I will end up being the brat that took everything from her and left her with nothing. I would rather be the guy that has every characteristic a female wants and desires in her guy, but am unable to get, only for that lucky one girl. Besides, I make it a point to pay back what ever amount I swipe off the card though my parents are still concerned if I have enough money to spend. Its simply a principle...being given the card is a privilege and not an entitlement. So I won't take advantage of it by busting a big hole in it.Originally posted by googoomuck:Now you have the advantage, why not use her and then give her the boot, like throw away old clothes?
I totally agree with your above 2 points. I mean...come to think of it, not that I'm being a total MCP, but is it just me? Or is it that we men never succumb to peer pressure of the above variety. And yes...to girls out there whom think that just because your friends have luxurious overseas trips, LV bags, big ass diamond ring etc.etc...do think of the fact that have guys ever complain that you look horrible, ugly, say that you're fat?Originally posted by sLeEpWaLkErInG:$$ will always be part of the thing to be discussed on the table.
Most of the time, it is always peer pressure.
"look at my LV bag"
"my husband buy big diamond ring for me on my birthday"
"my husband got me a maid so that i can relax after my work"
"I no need to work cos my husband can make a lot of money"
Cheers.
in the end he gets pawned. mother nature is diverse creature...Originally posted by SpecOps87:I totally agree with your above 2 points. Anyway...this problem will only get worse...it won't improve because society is driven by money. In school it may be the kid with the highest grades that speak loudest, but at the end of the day, in life its the one with the biggest bank account and the biggest spending power that speak the loudest.
So yes...let's just face it...man is selfish, but society just aids the process of us showing our true colours.
On a side note, this particular Mr.X's plan on Graduate's Mother's scheme...isn't that no different from what some German guy tried to during WW2? To purify the world by having a pure Aryan race?
Mr X? Isn't it Mr Lee?Originally posted by JayJay3335:that mr. x's plan is the dumbest piece f sh&t i ever heard..

'If you don't include your women graduates in your breeding pool and leave them on the shelf, you would end up a more stupid society. The men don't believe me. Every year, I produce them the results. You marry that kind of a wife, you get this kind of a result. They close their minds. I think we are not going to become as good a society as we were with each generation...This is the basic stock of success. If you don't have this, you can have the best human resources programme, but your human resource is poor.' - MM Lee

Isn't that's why there are SDU for the graduate and SDS for the non-graduate?

He has a great mind no doubt because his pet theories took a long time to be proven wrong.
He said that in the 80s. Now it's 2008. We can see that it has not gone anywhere.
For example, we have Hairdo Lim, Bargain Hen , The Horse, Georgie Boy, BioTech hub Yeo and many more....
And his own family? Good genes or bad genes? We all should know by now.
