This case has been discussed at length and no amount of punishment will be sufficient in the eyes of the victim's family.
It cannot be proven that there was intent to murder. It can also be speculated that the victim placed himself in a compromising position in his overzealous attempts to prevent the cabby from driving off.
Ultimately, it takes two hands to clap.

A person was in front of the taxi,the taix sdriver till drove ahead.Of couse the taxi driver should know his car could kill someone.So to charge him for homicide is not wrong too.

Murder = Planned homicide
First of all I need to say I used to deal with the law before... though not indepth but got very very very basic knowledge of it...
He didnt plan to kill him. Thus = Rash Act.

Exception 1 When culpable homicide is not murder.
Culpable homicide is not murder if the offender whilst deprived of the power of self-control by grave and sudden provocation, causes the death of the person who gave the provocation, or causes the death of any other person by mistake or accident.
By grave and sudden provocation (such as u caught your wife sleeping with another) u kill another, u have committed culpable homicide. But u have not committed murder.
There r 3 level
Murder = always give death penalty
culpable homicide = maximum life time imprisonment
rash act = 2 years jail -
I think what irked me off is how the taxi driver is showing little or no remorse at all.
