think many over-state the red-states factor in terms of Obama's electability. It is true that Obama will find winning any of the southern states tough, especially if he faces a christian conservative like huckabee or for that matter any white republican candidate. However, one can still lose the South and win the elections, remember Gore. Gore lost all the southern states, even his home state of Tennese, yet lost the election because of the Florida debacle (Yes, Florida is in the South, but it doesn't possess the characteristics of a Southern Bible-belt state, save the Florida pan-handle). Florida has a huge Hispanic population and for many of them immigration is a make or break issue in deciding the candidate they would vote for. Many of the GOP candidates have taken a tough stance on the issue of illegal immigration, alienating the Hispanic vote. Hence, if a Obama nomination results in wins in traditional democratic strongholds and strong showings in 'middle states' like Ohio, Pennsylvania, Colorado and Florida, Mr Obama can still be electable.
However, will he be a uniter as he portrays himself out to be or a dividing figure when he is President? Although he will be the first black President, and a true examplification of the triumph of the civil rights movement, his policies are left-leaning ('universal healthcare', 'amnesty for illegal aliens') and will be held in disdain by conservatives. Hence even if his personality personates change, his policies are still steeped in the great partisan divide between liberals and conservatives, which would only cast a deep shadow upon his article of change - his race. I love the man, but I think what America needs now is a candidate who does not appeal to his party base, but someone who can compromise and allow people to sense and see the commonality they share irregardless of their partisan differences. Unfortunately, with the current system of having to seek the nomination from one's party faithful, I think it is difficult for such a goal to come into fruitation. -

Senator John McCain beat former Massachusetts Governor Mitt Romney in the first-in-the-nation New Hampshire Republican primary Tuesday night, CNN projected.
On the Democratic side, Senators Hillary Rodham Clinton and Barack Obama are still in tight fight. Primary results showed that Clinton led 40 percent to 35 percent for Obama after votes counted from 13 percent of the state's precincts. -

The religious affiliations of U.S. Presidency candidates can affect their electability. I doubt that Obama will win. Like any job, experience count. The republicans have candidates with experience - governors or ex-governors stand a better chance than senators or congressmen.
Another disadvantage of Obama. He's a senator for a very short time. -

obama should be the more electable if running against the republicans...simply because he's less of a turn off compare to clinton....but the democrat leadership prefers clinton to oba......looking at the demographics, obama's supporters are mostly the younger group but they do not make up enough numbers....looks like oprah needs to do another round of tour.....

i think obama re-energize the interest of young people in US politics which has been lacking over the last few election. The coming of age in these younger generation dictate what will happen in the next decade. There is always much interest in US Pres Elections because as you can see, if they voted in Gore eight years ago, it is likely that there would not be an Iraq war and much more US participation in the global warning fight and Saddam Hussein still alive and in power... -

His brother Roy is a Muslim
Obama was educated in a Madrasa in Indonesia. he should have had recited the Muslim confession of faith whilst at school and mosque.
By technical defination, is he a Muslim? has he been circumcized?
Since his father was Muslim, does it make him one?
Does his attendance at Church make him an apostate?
If he has left islam, will he be killed, as required under Islamic law? -

whether you like it or not, there ARE people who follow strict Shariah law. if Obama is apostate in their eyes, they are duty bound to kill him.....
and this would affect everyone on the earth if he were to be the President of usa.
