My teacher and I were having this discussion - there are too many obstacles in the way when constructing a Singaporean national identity. What do you guys think?
What I think: In a multi-racial country like this, to be able to keep racism to a bare minimum is quite a feat, but there are always the black sheep around. Besides, some of us only manage to accept the existence of each others' races and religions, but that does not mean we have found a way to dissolve the barriers among us while keeping the strong traditions going. We stick to our individual identities without attempting a join-up to form a national identity
That's one factor.
What's your take?

The way things are going, soon you will see Singaporeans speaking only one language instead of two.
