Other government officials at first claimed that there was a ban. Samy Vellu himself gave statements that confirmed the ban at first.
Then he did a kebelakang-pusing and denied that there was such a thing.
If there has been any confusion at all then they've only got themselves to blame for not being able to coordinate properly and stick to decisions once they're made.
You give the mats too much credit...if they can take more than 10 years to build a damn border checkpoint what makes you think they'll be able to put a good spin on this?Originally posted by phil30k:Erm..
You guys do know that the practice of importing demonstrators exists?
I'm guessing a report of such came to the ears of the Malaysian government, hence the ban. Then the realization that it was bad press, hence the retraction. Then the complaints really start flooding in.
Poor Malaysia, I wonder how they're going to untangle this knot.
I'd probably try to spin it as kind of misreported confusion of computer software tabulation error of some sort for managing visas. Which they're looking into but meanwhile issuing/checking of visas have to be done manually so it's going to be pretty slow going. Sorry about the delay folks!
