If I get his pay & the perks, I also won't retire.Originally posted by ^tamago^:Yeah, to keep the economy going at all costs and make sure people don't have free time and money to fight politically.
Yeah man I agree.....for too long people think that just because he says something, its the golden truth....well I say this...I may be far from retirement, but after speaking to several people in their 60s, they would rather retire and do some hobbies to keep their minds active....bottomline is....do whatever you want with retirement....and it does not mean you MUST work even after retirement......of course I dispute that the middle and lower classes have to work because of the high costs of living....and we all know who's fault it isOriginally posted by HyperFocal:... I feel that the crux of it all, is that we SHOULD be allowed our RIGHTS to choose HOW we want to end our life... be it keeping busy till we die, or retiring at a desired or set age and going easy till the end...
... I mean, we are (& SHOULD) be entitled to our preferences or choice in the matter of LIFE as a CITIZEN....
... right now, we're mere Farm Animals.. herded, force fed policies, & told when to die...
... what the fark kind of living is this?? We're like farking stripped clean of any crumb of Human Rights!!!!
... I say, to those who can fly, please... do fly away to where you live a more dignified life...
We have to work till we die as we have to keep the economy going by feeding these greedy insatiable PAP and the old man. We have to work work work till we die to enable PAP to get their super unreasonable exceeded world class salary. Without us working it is impossible they still get paid with such sickening unreasonable exceeded world class pay. So old man wants us to work till we die.Originally posted by vulpes macrotis mutica:fair enough.
what a motherfcuking first class dysfunctional prick who regards himself as a perfect example that old people shouldn't retire but is actually, in reality, senile to the fact that he is the only person with a loss of mental faculties still drawing a ridiculous amount of money from the general population.
edit: grammar
Hello, that is precisely what I meant in my message above.Originally posted by sunnytv:His main purpose is for you to work and work, while they earn more money by not retire.
The people of Taiwan had spoken and DPP suffers great and pathetic loss. Thereafter, Bian resigns as the Party's Chairman. Doubt the same will happen in Singapore.Taiwan has a free press.
What you said are true. What I see is that not all but majority of the people in Singapore are not politically mature to want to make any stand. Instead of looking at making a stand with a positive mind, they take it negatively. Really sad.Originally posted by Poh Ah Pak:Taiwan has a free press.
Because of this free press, the Taiwanese are aware about political issues and are well-informed.
Their level of political knowledge and awareness is at a high level.
Singapore has a state controlled propaganda press.
Because of this propaganda press, Singaporeans can never be aware of anything political and they are ill-informed or even mis-informed.
Their level of political knowledge and awareness is at a low level.
So, for people in Singapore to rise up against the PAP ruling clique will take time.
Instead of looking at making a stand with a positive mind, they take it negatively. Really sad.It cannot be blamed.
So do you see any positive change after old man Lee passes away?Originally posted by Poh Ah Pak:It cannot be blamed.
Those who had opposed PAP regime in the past had been crushed.
So, opposition to PAP regime is now associated with being crushed.
This type of thing needs quite a long time to overcome.
If this generation cannot do it, then the next generation hopefully will.
Singapore was a politically active society before the arrival to power of the PAP regime, you must remember that.
So do you see any positive change after old man Lee passes away?Hard to say.

Suharto not getting honours he deserves: MM

JAKARTA — Minister Mentor Lee Kuan Yew says that many have forgotten what former Indonesian President Suharto has done for his country. He was in Jakarta yesterday to visit the critically-ill Mr Suharto.
Speaking to the media after he left the hospital, Mr Lee said Mr Suharto is not getting the recognition he deserves.
Adding that he came to pay tribute, he said: "I feel sad to see a very old friend with whom I had worked closely over the last 30 years not really getting the honours that he deserves. He deserves recognition for what he did. And the younger generations — both in Indonesia and in the world — do not remember where Indonesia started. I do.
"He gave Indonesia progress and development. He educated the population. He built roads and infrastructure. And from Sukarno's konfrontasi and other foreign policy excesses, he stabilised international relations, cooperated in Asean and made Asean more successful than SARC in South Asia. And today, we have a stable South-east Asia.
"Yes, there was corruption. Yes, he gave favours to his family and his friends. But there was real growth and real progress. I think the people of Indonesia are lucky. They had a general in charge, had a team of competent administrators — including a very good team of economists to build up the country."
Mr Lee went on to put the developments in perspective.
"From '67 when he became President right up to '97, the economy grew and Indonesia was on the point of taking off. It didn't take off not because of his fault but because Bank Indonesia's interest rate was too high."
Mr Suharto's condition worsened yesterday, two days after he suffered multiple organ failure, doctors said. — AGENCIES
He couldn't think less of that of himself, so in his view, corruption is OK, as long as there's progress overall, even if majority of it goes to the elites.
