jihat is a term to declare a war to fight anyone who trying to destroy islam. is this teaching good?
thanks for sharing your knowledge with us. it is good that we have clarified views from you guys who know the truth.Originally posted by huzane89:The 'big' percentage of terrorist that u all heard is because its against america... Jihad? Dun use a word that u dun not understand!Jihad does NOT mean to declare war to fight ppl who is trying to destroy islam? Terrorist use that word to give the 'reason' to fight!
In the Quran Jihad does NOT mean fight for war, it's more towards fighting ur fears... e.g. I have fear of heights. I overcome that fear and that's my jihad...
personally i have encountered several muslims friends whose reactions were very great when i commented on the terrorists. e.g. bali bombing. they seemed to be very sympathetic for the terrorists rather than criticising the evil act of bombing.Originally posted by faroukalhadad:The conflict in Souther Thai is POLITICAL not religious.
I know of Non-Muslim Thais who support the insurgency. Why?
Because Pattani, Narathiwat etc were never Thai states to begin with. Ppl there don't even speak Thai. they speak Malay. They were a sovereign state and was invaded by the Siamese before the time of Chulalongkorn. They have been fighting for independence since.
Yes most of the insurgents are Muslims. That's cos they are Malays. But somehow the media loves to take a Muslim spin on it and make the struggle look like a Muslim inspired one.
Should I believe you or believe the terrorists?Originally posted by huzane89:The 'big' percentage of terrorist that u all heard is because its against america... It's the media...There are many other ppl in diff. countries fight in the name of their religion. u wont know coz not at the news wat...

Can you elaborate more on that? I mean you can easily give tp people the wrong idea you know?Originally posted by faroukalhadad:I know of Non-Muslim Thais who support the insurgency. Why?
This is quite controversial. I feel most sucidal bombers are those who are very poor people living in the rural area. How much would u go for the survival of your family? for the goodness of them. To be able to live in a proper environment and have the food always ready on the table. Yep I think the root of evil is still 'MONEY' ! Anyone would have done that if being approached with a huge sum of money and that sum can last their poor family for the entire life. Under that circumstances, that kind of mentality, moral value doesn't matter anymore that's why not many people will think twice on accepting the mission. Imagine right now, as I am typing this and you are reading this, how many poor people there actually exist in this world, and how many is already resorting to this means to provide for their families? (Signing a contract with the terrorist militants?) It is because they don't get much help from the government, often feeling neglected and outcasted where as u know thier government would probably 'help' the rich more then the poor. So not neccesarily religious do come into play that much as a mean of allowing your loved ones to live a more comfortably live. Thought I empathize on their situation but I still very stongly condemm their act. This is a very cowardic act, how I wish everyone would play fair on the battle-field but that is never going to happen because that is the nature of all human beings.Originally posted by ms_ok:personally i have encountered several muslims friends whose reactions were very great when i commented on the terrorists. e.g. bali bombing. they seemed to be very sympathetic for the terrorists rather than criticising the evil act of bombing.

You can quote for us so that we can compare your interpretation with those coming from the Imams or other Muslim preachers.Originally posted by faroukalhadad:Quoting Quran verses out of context is a very cowardly act indeed and detrimental to religious harmony in Singapore
If you want to use that verse, quote it from the entire chapter where it is from.
And you will realise that it's about fighting off the pagan arabs who were murdering muslims in large numbers at that time.
the interpretation has already been given above.Originally posted by googoomuck:You can quote for us so that we can compare your interpretation with those coming from the Imams or other Muslim preachers.
Then why target the monks also?Originally posted by faroukalhadad:The conflict in Souther Thai is POLITICAL not religious.
