Just curious how come so many militants/insurgents/extemists/terrorists like to call themselve Muslims ?? Are they real Muslims? or just using the name of it ... -
Use the name only... Find excuse to kill ppl. I dun get it lor. which religion would tell u that u must use violence & kill ppl.... All excuses... Using religion as an excuse is more pathetic.

because they muslim ma... They use their religion as an excuse to kill... Killing innocent ppl in the name of allah... The 'big' percentage of terrorist that u all heard is because its against america... The conflict in Souther Thai is POLITICAL not religious.
I know of Non-Muslim Thais who support the insurgency. Why?
Because Pattani, Narathiwat etc were never Thai states to begin with. Ppl there don't even speak Thai. they speak Malay.They were a sovereign state and was invaded by the Siamese before the time of Chulalongkorn. They have been fighting for independence since.
Yes most of the insurgents are Muslims. That's cos they are Malays. But somehow the media loves to take a Muslim spin on it and make the struggle look like a Muslim inspired one. -

"Jihad" is a word used more by the westerners more than Muslims.
An interesting fact is, the arabic word "Jihad" is nowhere to be found in the Quran. -

(there's a certain degree of truth in it although you may either beg to differ or plain dismiss it.)

we have our very own Muslim terrorists in our own backyards, just that we're not aware. And they are those lawyers & professionals who are highly educated but scarce in numbers.
And all the Muslims just NATO - they can condemn radical acts & terrorism, but the true test of conflict between their faith & loyalty for a country would be triggered by a bomb blast in S'pore. -

If you want to use that verse, quote it from the entire chapter where it is from.

This is quite controversial. I feel most sucidal bombers are those who are very poor people living in the rural area. How much would u go for the survival of your family? for the goodness of them. To be able to live in a proper environment and have the food always ready on the table. Yep I think the root of evil is still 'MONEY' ! Anyone would have done that if being approached with a huge sum of money and that sum can last their poor family for the entire life. Under that circumstances, that kind of mentality, moral value doesn't matter anymore that's why not many people will think twice on accepting the mission. Imagine right now, as I am typing this and you are reading this, how many poor people there actually exist in this world, and how many is already resorting to this means to provide for their families? (Signing a contract with the terrorist militants?) It is because they don't get much help from the government, often feeling neglected and outcasted where as u know thier government would probably 'help' the rich more then the poor. So not neccesarily religious do come into play that much as a mean of allowing your loved ones to live a more comfortably live. Thought I empathize on their situation but I still very stongly condemm their act. the conflict in southern thailand is political in nature. it is smth very easy to understand.
do ppl blame hindus when tamil tigers kill and maim? no, because it is not the fault of hinduism that tamil tigers there are in arms. the conflict in sri lanka is a political one.
similarly, why blame muslims in southern thailand, when the conflict there is a political one too?
once you understand this, we can all achive religious harmony in singapore -

THe THais are paying the price of their bullying of the SUltan of Kedah in 1826.
Pattani is Malay soil. However, it became Thai territory because the British didn't want Thailand to interfere in their commercial interests in Perak & Selangor, later on part of the Federation of Malaya (now Malaysia).
THere should be a plebicite whether the ethnic Malays of Pattani and surrounds want to join Malaysia or what. This I feel is the most amicable solution.
