Suppose you are the leader of a country. Two soldiers from neighbour country blew up a bomb and killed your people.
They are sentenced to death and killed. Now there is a new leader in your neighbour country. You want improve both countries relationship. But your Amdassdor advice you to put flowers in their grave!!

Most leaders,if not all, would stick to principal say NO.
But LKY thought otherwise. His top priority then was to put foods on people's table. The wreaths gave face to Suharto, who then could asked to his officials and people.
The wreaths gave Singapore many years of peace.

Have u visited a sick friend, who alreday lost his authority
and influences?
LKY did.
PS:Followed by Dr M.
Singapore society cannot progress unless LKY dies.
i predict there will be turmoil in the parliament after he has passed on. witch hunt maybe by whoever is more influential than LHL, auditing of LKY's relatives accounts and that is when the shit will hit the fan.
And after the euphoria and witchhunt, singapore society will then be able to progress on.
i find it wierd how you guys are so looking forward to his death.
Do you not know the implications of it, or are you too blind and naive to think everything will be rosier?
I for one fear for the turmoil that will come after it.

I think they must have caught the speakers corner virus..
Aside from the morality of the death sentence.
I think the death sentence is the ultimate punishment for a physical transgression.
The punishment meted out in his afterlife is the person's own affair with his God. It would be the right of the religious leaders of the marines to influence this punishment if they deemed it appropriate.
Not respecting each other's religious beliefs is always a bad thing.

Deathbait and Fishbuff,
You are both looking at the same thing (changes) from different perspectives.
One calls it progress, the other calls it turmoil.
Things change all the time, it's a facet of life.
I think most of the changes will be deflected by the bureacracy.

Suddenly you got a whole host of opposition parties forming and people speaking up more? Who knows ....PAP may even split into factional parties.
A step in change. :)

Turmoil I think not. Don't keep thinking of the worst of your own fellow Singaporeans. Who knows - you may get some positive change.
By the way ...evil never dies. So for now, you need not worry. Just continue taking your paypacket and enjoying it while it lasts.

Erm brother, I dont really care if SG ahead of other countries in many aspects..... i only care about a few aspects namely...
1) My buying power aka wages
2) HDB ..... 99 years lease..... so it depreciates?
3) Affordability of freehold *refer to point 2
3) Future for my kids

More gracious mah. Not everyone has the option to move out.... and if they can't might as well make the best of it right? So "turmoil" is bad for them as it has the risk of instant death.... which is far worse than their "slow death" with the current system.....![]()

I hope Mr Lee has the political charisma to hold the fort when the older Mr Lee goes.
