Jam the GPS frequencies
It's invisible no one can see radio frequencies![]()
More good years ahead!!

So everyone will SPEED and there will be MORE accidents in the future. So not only we pay MORE for using the roads, we will get MORE summons from the traffic police.
"VERY" good idea from LTA, nice job.
Not sure about you.... But I don't take Cab very often. And will try my best not to do so.... And if I really need a cab (like returning from the airport with 28kg of baggage), then for my comfort, I'm willing to pay. But most ppl, including you and me, won't be taking cabs daily right....
And if they do increase the cost of public transportation...... it will still be CHEAPER than owning a Car. Just as the fares will go up.... so will the cost of upkeeping a cars. ![]()
Look at it this way.... Since most ppl in this thread think that the Govt is trying to somehow 'Cheat' or 'Con' their money with the ERP, COE...... Don't you think that NOT BUYING A CAR, is a way to show Govt ''THE FINGER''
I mean what are all of you waiting for..... this is your chance to Not let them take more money from you ....
and all you have to do is NOT OWN ANY CAR
![]()
I agree that in the end, they would still somehow make you pay..... but at least in a smaller way. The bus companies can't be charging you $1 extra if you are going to the CBD at peak hour......
But of course..... if anyone still plan to own a car.... then you could only blame yourself for pay & pay....
I have no qualms if LTA wants to increase the revenue collections from car owners. What I want to see is that the revenue collected is used to benefit the users of public transportation. That should mean reduced fares or freeze in fares, more bus lanes and less traffic jams on the roads for public commuters, more cleaner buses with less roaches, higher frequency of bus trips and buses packed with mobile TVs and wireless connections.
I am pretty frustrated with the traffic jams on the roads, screwing up the bus schedules and more time wasted to get to the office and home. Despite the frequent increases in ERP, the jams remains unabated. Cutting the number of COEs is a good move but does not solve the packed roads.

How about S'poreans boycott Car Ownership...... think about it
If you don't own a car.... ERP, COE and even road tax won't affect you. Rising oil price would affect you less..... you could also save in parking your car in expensive HDB parking lot. It will also be good for the air PSI level in S'pore..... not including stopping Globle Warming and saving the environment
All these could happen by JUST NOT OWNING A CAR

But if you still want to own a car...... then you only have yourself to blame when you pay & pay....
No use one. Don't own a car is ok for them. They can just find another way to squeeze ur money out. Maybe like giving some excuse to increase the public transport fares ![]()
Wad the crap.
... supposing that EVERYONE or just 60% of car owners gave up driving & uses Public Transport, what do you think the next problem will be?
... I'd say that transportation infrastructure will become overloaded, resulting in breakdown of MRT trains, commuters frequently late for work, & bus driver shortages, and generally much much higher cost for these public transport companies to operate...
... thus, costs of all modes of Public Transport will be hiked up & it won't be much different from owning a small car...
... like I've said; we don't have a government, what we have are businessmen who doesn't know HOW to run a country, & are largely all these while been making their own profits, while problem solving is like groping around in the dark...

The perfect solution to this vicious cycle is to ride a motorbike. LTA is trying to suck more money from car and public transport. Motorbike is the solution, cheap and can get u to place as fast as car.... No matter how much they raise on roads and charges, motorbike will be the least affected. Cos its small and will not contribute to cogestion/ It consume very little fuel... ![]()

Are taxi exempted from ERP?
Do vehicles making deliveries need to pay ERP?
The main thing the Government try to do is squeezed the middle class of out reach for cars. They made it only affordable for the rich and themselves. All these ERP, COE and the like will not affect them. If everybody gives up car ownerships, they would have attained their aim. Don't forget, what ever policy they implement, it will not affect them. Only the average and the poor will suffer. Now you know why they need hugh salaries ...

my fren once said, his area is only served by SMRT buses, and it was horrible and terrible, so he went to bought a car and it was much more better.
of course, some pple live near MRT, those pple who live near mrt should not be buying a car.
2010 or 2011? certainly it is an impt year huh? (u all noe wad i mean)

i will say 60% of the car owner will not give up their car at once. ![]()
i am crying right now... its cny year but damn them all to hell!![]()

A way to beat the ERP, COE blues have been shown to you.....
If you still wants to own a car..... then only got yourself to blame.
Still not happy..... then move out of S'pore asap.
Life is not fair..... deal with it...... ![]()
Singapore has already got one of the most advanced & efficient public transport systems in the world. I used to think like most people here too.. Couldn't afford a car and didn't quite enjoy paying ever-increasing prices for taking public transports during peak periods.. until I am in a far more "inferior" country now.
Be happy with what we already have and don't keep grumbling about what we choose to have. Life us all about CHOICES.

Advanced public transport? Probably, having spent so much useless money on automated systems and yet need a human there to ensure it does not malfunction.
Efficient? Far from it. Wait till you see Germany's buses... Confirm within 5 mins of the specified time will reach the bus stop. 5 mins early or late is already very bad service to them... Long distance trains, 10~15 mins difference maximum unless train breaks down... You can plan your journey time to plus minus 5 mins to anywhere in Germany.
Underground train system wise (similar to MRT type), you should see how extensive the network is in Paris, Munich, Frankfurt, etc. Singapore MRT lines (if we include the future plans of Eastern line and the likes), when compared to their lines, is way way lousier. In those cities, you can really survive without a car because it is so much easier to travel around.
Conclusion: We may say that Singapore is still a relatively young city, so there's still room for much much more development. Don't be satisfied with our current transport infrastructure; it is way below first world standards. Second world transport system in a so called first world country...

If Singaporeans (I'm also refering to our elderly) are ready for the first world transport standards now, human-touch will already have been eliminated.
Improvement, advancement and development takes time and money input. Everyone wants better quality of life, but how many are willing to work and not just talk towards it?
Which is why our public transport system is still not sufficiently efficient right now. You should take a trip to Europe and see. Visiting a less developed country makes one thankful for what one have now, and visiting a more developed country will make one realise that Singapore is still far from being among the top.
The sad thing that happens to all developed countries with a market economy: the rich gets richer and the poor gets poorer. "No Singaporeans will be left behind" was a promise made to us... How much of this promise was fulfilled? Sigh....
