... My husband is waiting for gastric banding and thru the public health system the wait is 18months for an appointment. The $40 mill would be better spent on health. I also know of an elderly gentleman who has been diagnosed with cancer and has to wait until after march to start his treatment. I think governments have got to start and look at the viability of running show peice items at a reasonable cost so they are able to be fully supported.

Fact is you are like to sling mud on Australia when you could better spend your time on suggesting how Singapore can be improved.
Second of all ,gastric banding is not a priority - it is not a emergency procedure . Cancer treatment is prioritised in the public system unless they want to jump the queue and pay privately. You can't compare Singapore to Australia because Singapore is a user pay system and it is still not cheap after subsidies whilst Australia has a welfare like health system. Every healthcare system has its fault and I don't deny that the Australian health care system needs improvement.
Now for the F1 business - how much do you know about it besides your pathetic cut and paste of newspaper articles? Involved in the business of maintaining F1 circuits and events?
So do me a favor , stop making stupid statements - you are disgracing Singapore's fine education.
Lionnoisy , want to show Singapore ranks no.1 in the global world of healthcare right? Don't use Australia because I know that Australian health care system has to be improved.
Use the Finnish system as the benchmark - their healthcare is amongst the best in the world - their cancer rates and survival rates are also better than most countries. The finnish healthcare system is also welfare taxation based. Best of all, they don't need to pay their ministers millions of dollars to run their country.

Wow.... sooo goood ![]()
Then what are you waiting for ![]()

Move to Finland lah..... ![]()
Singapore can always move to high tax & high welfare kind of system. We know that PAP thinks such a system is not workable.
Opposition should propose a credible alternative. Such a system has worked (some better than others) in developed countries.
I find that superficial comparisons tend to get you flamed.
The point about free medical and the corresponding high taxes levied is very apt in this instance. You cannot compare Health care without examining how it is going to be financed and run.

No thanks. I am happy with Australia. It may have certain shortcomings but I got health insurance to skip the public queues. However I know that the public side is my backup if I want to save the trouble of claiming from insurance.
Everytime when someone says a country, other than Singapore, is amongst the best doesn't mean that they want to move there. It is just for people like Lionnoisy to go compare the system with a world benchmark rather than shooting their mouths off when they are frogs in a well.
