my future prediction:
COE for bicycle.
roads tax for bicycle.
fare hike for taking public transports during peak hours.
And also ERP for human when the population reach 6 millions. Every Singaporean will have a chip implanted into our head and tracked by GPS. When we enter the CBD area during peak hour, a certain amount of money will automatically be deducted from our bank account. If not enough money, electric current will be emitted to fry your brain. ![]()
sinkapore has too many cars, period.
i encountered the silliness many times as well where you drive 200 metres, you see 3 traffic lights ahead of you.
Many times/locations if i may add. buy expensive car but don't drive is an oxymoron, unless u r $ loaded.
car is a necessity for me but for work, i take alternative transport 2 days in a week. part of it is to reduce carbon footprints and the others is really to be able to find some time to catch up on books/papers. my job is deskbound.
the gahmen needs to take a hardline approach to this in terms of car ownership is concerned, altho' i agree it is a very challenging issue. they need to improve the transport system. they r way behind on this. too much talk.
in tokyo or NYC, ppl actually prefer the subways as it is a quicker way around. i spent 2 weeks in tokyo last year and it practically takes you to any locality you have in mind with short walks after u alight at the station, even obscure one. i am very impressed.
ERP at the entrance of all carparks.
In 5 years or less. ![]()

yea, the chip will monitor your thoughts 24x7 and if u have any radical ideas, it will zap u.
Better appreciate the ERP gantries now ![]()
When they start the GPS system
I think there will be a lot of people weeping their eyes out.
These days I'm forced to plan for my taxi ride. Peak hour + ERP = Burnt Pocket
