Yea, have in the past. Very few in recent years (I mean local ones). Maybe due to too much focus on "importing" foreign talent than nurturing good local athletes.

allow me humblest of opine and sookgestion
maybe, just maybe, can use the technique of paying world record athletic salary. Like this can squeeze out genius and talent from sg'pore athleticos.
money lah. use money, pay them many many. like this, 'proven' to work leh. no meh ? else they go elsewhere become other professional or soldiers of the economy then you know! then you loose these talents to the private sacktor.
Pay And Pay world record, get world record?
what u laughing at ? ![]()
I mean not foreign singaporeans... Local bred singaporeans. I am aware that there was one who won the silver in weighlifting long ago...
I just want to find out for present times... Never hear singaporeans go compete for the olympics(current) on the news etc... If have, anyone have any resources?
Singapore always send atheletes to the Olympic games but we aren't good enough to make it very far.
Jin Junhong was a semi-finalist at the Sydney Games but she lost in the Bronze medal match.

The term local bred Singaporeans is very hard to define. Just 3~4 generations ago, where did most of our ancestors come from?
LKY himself is 3rd generation Singaporean (his grandad is from china), so his grandson is 5th generation. In retrospect, Tao Li, one of our swimmers, is a 2nd generation Singaporean. Just 3 generations apart...
what i mean by local bred is made, birth & raised in singapore... Instead of the FT that the gov pay to represent singapore...
So if talented sg sportsmen want to go for olympics, who they approach?

So if you are made and born overseas, of which definitely will happen to some Singaporean mothers, but raised in Singapore, then you are not local bred?
Yet if you only want to bother about being raised in Singapore, child athletes like the swimmer mentioned above have been here since a kid.

The point is to nurture young Singaporean (I don't really care local bred or whatever) instead of importing from oversea.
If you are so interested to debate as to where we come from, well, all human evolve from apes so no need to compete in Olympic since there we are all one big family.
aiyah... As long as singaporeans and nurtured in singapore la... Not the ones the gov give $$$ & get citizenship just for as to represent s'pore in sports...
