Giving citizenship like freebies to foreigners does not guarantee that they will not hop like grasshoppers, stupid!
if , the best a general citizen can achieve is
a flat , a nissan and 1 or 2 childrean for working and sloggin till 65,
I am considering
is it really worth it.
of course, to satisfy the whites,
i will say loudly
IT IS WORTH IT!!!
lower quality of life
vs
good quality of life and cheap luxury cars and bungalows and rooms with really nice views and natural sceneries and seasons not just rain monsoon.
you think lah.
Attitudes have certainly changed over the years. 5 years ago, most pple who migrate out of Singapore are regarded as quitters or betrayals. Right now, we have a gradual shift towards attitude in migration out of Singapore. Now, you may start to feel glad for the person who left Singapore. (good for him)

but the earnings of those angmohs are also in euros n they they typically make a lot more due to unionized regulations. at first look, it does seem rediculous relative to sinkapore but this is only a fraction of a view.

I think the price of petrol in Singapore in June 07 isn't as high as now too.
The earnings is in euros, yes, but the travelling required by a car is much more than the length of Singapore. They do travel from cities to cities by driving. Their parking is horrendous, but I'm afraid I didn't take any photos of parking fees at that time. Let me show you how to parking is in Paris, and how a traffic police gives a summon:

But then again, it is not the price... There are any other intangible factors, like the following of a picture of a model taking a photoshoot:

i agree with u totally, eagle. i am not saying it is `cheaper' to own cars in europe, particularly in france. i have been to a few places in the EU myself late last year for work and colleagues have confirmed the high cost of car ownership, including usage. i dun envy them altho' car price on its own is still way lower than sinkapore.
this is the reality of today with regards to owning a car. i will be personally `whacked' in an hour or so later.....m renewing my car insurance and roadtax which will set me back $3k

1) You read too much into a picture
2) You have not read what I posted after the picture

In Germany, a Toyota is a luxury while a Merc is a common car. They don't have COE, but they have high personal taxes. Not only that, there's a necessity (it is compulsory) to get a health insurance because medical fees can get very costly.
The parking space in cities are also far from being enough.
Then again, as I have said in other threads, their public transport system is way better than Singapore's. Efficient enough not to drive.

Which ever country you are in, or go to you are responsible for your own quality of life. If you know how to improve the quality of your life, you can do it here or anywhere else. If you can't no point going to UK or Australia, you still won't know how to enjoy life.

Agree. Europe transport system is way superior than sg.
Sg is now having the burden to prove it can match 1st world standard of europe. till then, i hope, URGE , and WISH and ENCOURAGE no more hikes to transport fares and hopeferly, lower the cost.
superior is one thing, price is another - the cost of public tranpsort is way higher
cyclists on sg road are risking their lives.
i
HOPE,
URGE,
ENCOURAGE,
SUGGEST,
WISH,
something be done about bicyclists on sg roads.
in 1st worlds, its not like that.
even china roads are bicyclist-friendly with dedicated lanes for them to enjoy.
sg in this respect needs a lot of improvement.
i hope
urge
encourage
suggest
wish
like to see
our schoolars work hard on this aspect.
roads can kill. 1 life too many. act now!

No, it is not, if you are a citizen or PR and you know how to get discounts and everything. Imagine travelling from Frankfurt to Munich for 40 euros on an express train. Not to mention that with a Bahncard 50 (costs how much I forgot), you get 50% discount on every ride. Even without buying a weekly or monthly pass, a single trip within a city costs 1.5 euros (without the 50% discount). A monthly pass on regional trains and bus rides costs around 72 euros (without the 50% discount). This monthly price is the price for a main city and the trains to its suburds, not from big cities to big cities.
And, their bus and trains are very punctual, and with at most 5 mins (5 mins is bad service to them) difference from the stipulated time. You can literally plan your trip down to the last few minutes. If you are late for a few mins for the bus, you will quite likely have missed the bus/train.
