Is Halal Food Dividing Singapore?

the TS is starting to make me feel very very uncomfortable .....
I guess in his eyes, I'm just a dirty pork eater, a cut below what he stands for ? ... is that why accomodation and tolerance has to be a one way street for him ? ...
so who is really distancing themselves against who ? ....
like I was telling elindra in another thread .... it's not about who wins or loose in this debate here .....
cos people ultimately will just go back and stew and boil in their hearts privately ... and the us-versus-them attitude gets etched into their minds a little more .... and our society becomes a little more polarized by the day ...

but of course, some may take offence from the idea that we're all descended from monkeys ...... if viruses can evolve in pigs, why not humans from monkeys, right ? ... it's still evolution after all, neh ?

people should have the freedom to eat what they want and where they want to. that means if we have to mix people eating muslim food and people eating non-muslim food then that should not be a problem. the only thing the muslim person has to do is to avoid eating the non-halal food, which of course, is rather easy to to do, isn't it?
contamination? worries of plates and cutleries mix-up, thus possibly transmitting into the muslim ones? a bit shallow and narrow-minded, don't you think? if that's the case, in the 1st place, we are already doing that since, for example, a non-muslim takes pork in the morning, goes to a hawker center for lunch, eats at a muslim store, and later transmits "non-halal food" to the muslim man later through the cutleries, albeit a few hours after thorough cleansing, washing and drying. ridiculous, no?
some people are just a bit too uptight. rules can be interpreted differently anyway through the various school of thoughts.
oh and btw, i am a malay-muslim. -
if i'm not wrong, a muslim cannot be too certain about wot he eats.......just that he knows wot he is eating to the best of his knowledge...otherwise it wouldn't be good for his thinking.....a muslim is forbidden do anything that may result in the body and mind being in bad condition.....

right on deino. sometimes it boils down to individual logic and common sense. hence, there've been many cases whereby we muslims find ourselves in a predicament on whether it is right or wrong. the term "was-was" applies. so if you are "was-was" or in simple translation "wary" about the food, in this example, then you shouldn't be eating it.

That's your belief, that's up to you. No one is contesting that.

yeah...i think the problem with some or many muslims out there is that they aren't living through the times i guess......
they have forgotten about science.....if i'm not wrong muhammad did say something about reading which did prove been the caused of the golden age for islam during the dark times for europe at that point.....hmmmm.....
if i'm not wrong too, being too was-was is also forbidden.....

i wanted to discuss the issue of eating together. of gelling together as one people of singapore.
and my original proposition was: wat's wrong with allowing halal food canteens, if it allows all of us to sit together?

it wouldn't be the case of eating together but a case in which a muslim is trying to make the school one.....

They listen to other people who only read one or two line from Koran that help them support what they want to do and forget all the other part that go against what they want.
Which religion got tell you to go and kill? Got tell you to go out and make other people do what you think right. If they dont listen, you must force? If really got such religion you better check if started by God or the OTHER guy.

if you want to go back to issue then the problem already said by many people.
eating together is not problem. even is canteen not Halal Muslim can eat together if buy from Halal store. got choice.
if force to become halal then choice taken away from non-Muslim
you can not just see from your point.
if I only can eat vegetable how? I say not allowed to sell meat so we all can eat together. you like?
