Lee YS is Minister of State at MTI (see http://www.parliament.gov.sg/AboutUs/Org-MP-MP-Prof-LeeYiShyan.htm).
A friend suggested that he is a nephew of LKY, but I've searched the net and can't find any confirmation.
Can anyone help? Thanks
is it important? ![]()
If a HR Manager or Public Service Commission is to look after recruitment, would it allow anyone to be recruited based on connection to insider.
For example, if the GM is to recommend an accounts manager who is his confidante to the HR how would the HR handle this potential Enron-situation.
LKY may have good reason to give certain post to his ex-university study mates, by his influence or power but in doing so does he not have the high standard to realize that once he bypass the HR or PSC, he would be sending a wrong signal to PSC and many people down the line would be too tempted to do the same in employing only their own connections. Is this happening amounting to corrupt practices under the Anti-corruption law?
Good leaders must avoid double standard by scrupulously observing by personal example the same high standard as set up in HR or PSC.
If he cannot meet such high standard then the conclusion of obvious - he is not a good leader but someone who is self-centred who could cause big problems to his company or country.
Let our leaders decide whether by appointing ministers or talents based on some recommendations from their own circles of ministers or friends is it a correct practice we should follow.
As our socieyt mature let the people now speak up on such issues and not bear with all kinds of power play by our politicians.
