Which is why I started the subject. Many Middle class could have the mobility to move. Its a talking point, and idea, it may become something more, maybe not.
Like you said, a decision to move is not an easy thing to do. There are still other less tangible factors that would keep someone here, other than the creature comforts. If a decision was based purely on creature comforts, then the decision making will be alot easier wouldn't it? This thread was meant to see both sides of the coin. Can't help but wonder why chose to be confrontational tho. :)
Money management is key, regardless where you go, so its a common dinominator
Please understand that I'm not trying to be confrontational..... all those bold letters and colours are meant to highlight my points and not as 'shouting'......
Alot of middle class would discovery that they are lower class once they move overseas...... unless you plan to move to a kampong in Malaysia, Indonesia or a small village in Thailand......
Cars might seems cheap in Aust..... But distance needed to get from point A to B is much greater than in S'pore..... Fuel ain't costing any less....
Big landed Housing is much cheaper..... Not forgeting that maintance is all on you.... No govt agency will come and paint your house or fix your lights..... I heard mostly DIY by owner because very expensive to call for service ppl.
You may have 'Real' Welfare...... But the income tax would 'kill' you.... heard, 40% in Aust with 20% GST.... fishbuff, am I correct
.... need you to confirm. Thxs.

here's the personal income tax. income tax is higher as compared to SG but it is tax directly. whereas SG has low income tax but tax more indirectly thru other means. still housing is cheaper in SG but we dont get to own the flats, only the lease.
GST here is 10%. average salary is in the $40,000 range. and wages do go up due to inflation. main stress here is housing, not enough and too damn expensive.
we need HDB FLATS HERE!! :D
i left after i finished all my reservist trainings.
