The current campaign to welcome foreign workers to join our work force is a facade because the foreign workers know only too well how the government is treating its own citizens.
It is a waste of time and effort to pretend the government really welcomes them. They know in their heart (CNA dares not ask them this sensitive question though) that one day sooner or later the government will turn on them too if they are no longer needed the same way it has betrayed its own citizens.
I second that!
Many PRCs and Indians in the organization where I work. Workers definitely will retire in the countries where they come from.
The well paid ones know how the middle-class Singaporeans are struggling to bring up their children. They not stupid.
They here for the smell of money lah...
They here for the smell of money lah...
Very intresting.....
You mean when S'poreans talks about 'migrating' to other Countries...... the aren't thinking of Money or a Better Lifestyle
Are you telling me that those who chose to go.... purely wants nothing more then to Contribute themselve to their new host countries
Money was never in their mind ![]()
Not that money is not important but the hypocrisy of the system here really stinks. We are now talking about the hypocrisy of a system where after the government fails in its economic restructuring due to lack of real talents to go about economic restructuring the leaders started blaming the citizens for lack of skills and talents and started importing foreigners to replace lost citizens and making claims of how good are the foreigners.
If the government indeed has the talents or abilities as claimed it has for years, it should have by now used the surpluses citizens have built up to create many more jobs instead hoarding them for their own glory and losing them by billions on some financial institutions of which they became advisors without any accountability.
If instead of wooing foreigners our leaders have been wooing citizens and our own local businesses we could have grown to be a more competitive country by now.
Is it too much for the citizens to ask of a government which claims to be world's best to be truly best - with ability to motivate its own people to bring about greater opportunity as Bill Gates is still planning to do - through harnessing of latest technologies through its own employees and people.
Foreigners also compare with countries what money can buy. Singapore is less competitive...pidgeon holes, ERPs, lacking space and freedom of expression etc
Singapore: Asia’s gilded cage
What is the main point ? That foreigners will leave one day ? If foreigners leave one day, is it a good or bad thing ?
wow, 1000 poreans give it up each year? poreans are so smart. why they become FT overseas? are they learning to be FT from FT's?
if we welcome FTs, we must not condem our locally born FTs.

Did I said anything about singaporean migrating? Who care about singaporean who leaves. I did not say anything about them.
The fact is this Sg wages is four to eight times that of India and China. Now, if you migrate to whiteman's country, will wage be five to eight times that of sg?
If you wants to discuss, at least discuss in context.

Did you not claim that FTs are here only for the Money..... -
"They here for the smell of money lah..." - Yes or No....
If Yes...
Then isn't S'porean who leave in search of a better life much the same ![]()
If you blame FT for coming here just to earn money..... isn't overseas S'poreans just as guilt ![]()
Or is it in your mind that it is more holy for S'poeans to do so..... but Sinful for other FT to come to S'pore for the same thing

Not when the local government is oppressing locals in favor of foreigners. Try comparing the discrimination faced by foreigners here with that of Singaporeans overseas. Odds are, Singaporeans are discriminated EVERYWHERE.
Tool.

Just like if overseas coy offer you higher pay, would you go for the job?
