On Wednesday , 12 March 2008 Edition of this paper , there was a front
page news report on how a China student studying in Singapore had
suffered from leukamemia and the students of the school even set up an
online appeal to ask Singaporeans to donate and help this cancer -
stricken boy in whatever they can .
But
to their shock and anger , instead of receiving support for their
donation drive to help the boy , some Singaporeans refused to help and
even pour scorn to their efforts and even said that they would rather
offer their help only if he is a fellow Singaporean ! 80% out of the
120 people who took part in an online poll set up on this topic said
that they WOULD NOT offer help to this boy , just because he is of
China Nationality !
We are living in a muti-racial society and
Singapore is also a unique country as it is not only a multi-racial
society but also for it's multi- nationalism too !
We are
known to be the FIRST to offer help to other countries when they are in
need of food , clothing when the country had just experienced a natural
disaster or to war torn areas . We are so willing to donate and offer
help in whatever we can , so why do u think some Singaporeans attitude
towards this China boy who needs our help too so different ?

Do
u thnk when it comes to helping people , does nationality really matter
? Also , if u were asked to help this China boy , would u offer your
help & if your answer is NO , Why ?
