I definitely support your thesis. The imperialistic foreign policy the US is pursuing causes tremendou division and suffering in the world. Read this blog entry (http://chinamatters.blogspot.com/2008/05/myanmar-assessment-teams-fetish-and.html) on how the USA is exploiting the Myanma disaster for its own political ends, generally ignoring the plight of the disaster affected civiliams in that country.
It is not my thesis.
Since USA launched the war against Spain in 1898, they have been criticised for their imperialism.

America will not amend its destructive ways willingly. China needs to rise rapidly so as to keep the US in check. Due to cultural and political proclivities, the EU can not be expected to counter American hegemony.
USA's hands are tied up in Iraq and Afghanistan, it will keep their military busy for a few more years.
Now is a good chance to initiate projects against USA.

USA will be forced to soften: Francis Fukuyama
THE USA can no longer assume it has hegemony over world affairs and will have to change its approach dramatically to emphasise soft power, diplomacy and regional security co-operation, according to American scholar Francis Fukuyama.

Ex-Press Aide Writes That Bush Misled U.S. on Iraq
Former White House press secretary Scott McClellan writes in a new memoir that the Iraq war was sold to the American people with a sophisticated "political propaganda campaign" led by President Bush and aimed at "manipulating sources of public opinion" and "downplaying the major reason for going to war."

“The Dictator Hunter”: Victims of USA-Allied Chadian Dictator Hissene Habre Lead Quest to Bring Him to Justice
AMY GOODMAN: First, tell the story, Reed. Tell the story of how Hissène Habré came to power, was forced out, and where he stands today.
REED BRODY: Well, Hissène Habré was a local warlord in Chad, which is a Central African country just south of Libya. And at the time, Ronald Reagan—when Ronald Reagan came into office, he was looking for ways to counter Muammar Gaddafi’s expansionist designs on Chad...

Citing Iraq War, Renowned Attorney Vincent Bugliosi Seeks “The Prosecution of George W. Bush for Murder”
...After the meeting, Manning prepares a five-page memo stamped “extremely sensitive,” in which he summarizes what was said at the meeting.
And Manning writes that Bush and Blair expressed their doubts that any weapons of mass destruction would ever be found in Iraq, although two months later they went there because they said they had the weapons and we had to disarm them.
But it gets much, much, much worse. Manning wrote that Bush was so worried, so upset, over the failure of the UN inspectors to find weapons of mass destruction, that he talked about three ways to, quote, “provoke a confrontation with Hussein,” one of which, Bush said, was to, quote, “fly U2 aircraft, reconnaissance aircraft, over Iraq, falsely painted in United Nations colors,” and Bush said if Hussein fires upon them, this will be a breach of UN resolutions and justify war...

AT LAST, SOME TRUTH ABOUT IRAQ AND AFGHANISTAN
PARIS - After a sea of lies and a tsunami of propaganda, the ugly truth
behind the Iraq and Afghanistan wars finally emerged into full view
this week.
Four major western oil companies, Exxon, Mobil, Shell, BP and Total,
are about to sign US-brokered no-bid contracts with the US-installed
Baghdad regime to begin exploiting Iraq’s oil fields. Saddam Hussein
had kicked these firms out three decades ago when he nationalized
Iraq’s foreign-owned oil industry for the benefit of Iraq’s national
development. The Baghdad regime is turning back the clock.
This agreement comes as talks are continuing between the Washington and
its Baghdad client regime over future US basing rights in Iraq. After
some face-saving Iraqi objections, it is expected that Baghdad will
sign a compact with Washington giving US forces control of Iraq and its
air space in a manner very similar to Great Britain’s colonial
arrangement with Iraq...

Russia’s "New Order" of security relations incorporating the US, Russia and the European Union: The Medvedev proposal
Perhaps the most unsettling aspect of the current US Presidential campaign, aside from the studied avoidance of any serious proposals to address the worst economic depression since the 1930’s, is the fact that both major party candidates, Barack Obama and John McCain, have to date been stone silent on the most pressing issue of future war or peace, namely the steps taken by the Bush-Cheney Administration to encircle Russia with a new Iron Curtain of NATO member states, including strenuous efforts to push Ukraine and Georgia into NATO, and to establish an advanced nuclear missile defense system which, from a standpoint of military strategy, far from defense, puts the world on a hair-trigger to nuclear holocaust in the few years ahead...
