Hi, this is a survey I did in my class, to show how ignorant Singaporean teens truly are...
Lets start with the easy questions...
Of the 43 people I asked...
-5 don't know who the current Prime Minister of Singapore is
-23 don't know who the current British Prime Minister is
-41 don't know who the current President of Russia is -_-'!
-37 thinks the USA is a welfare state (-_-"!) including the teacher...!!!
-21 don't know what the stars of the Singapore Flag represent...
-15 don't know what the biggest country in the world is... OMG
- 35 thinks Singapore's army is entirely made up of professionals, uhm.. I think they forgot NS.. lol
Now getting harder...
- 42 can't name the smallest country
-27 can't name me USA's Capital
-All 43 don't know that Singapore is using the Westminster system for our Parliament
-9 still thinks Singapore is still part of the commonwealth, seriously can't they read "REPUBLIC OF SINGAPORE"?
"Harderst" Questions... well not really...
-All 43 can't name a country starting with a letter 'O'
- 41 don't know who John Mc Cain is...
- All 43 can't name the biggest City in Europe
- All 43 can't name where the 2014 Winter Olympics games is held, 31 didn't even knew there was a Winter Olympics
- All 43 can't name the smallest country in the world, the closest guess I got was Monaco
Eh... singapore is a member of the commonwealth.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Commonwealth_of_Nations#Members
Anyway, how do you define a welfare state?
By the way, welfare expenditure in the usa is 14.8% of their GDP.
wow! ur class is the whole singapore?!?!
or isit just ur class' problem?
-9 still thinks Singapore is still part of the commonwealth, seriously can't they read "REPUBLIC OF SINGAPORE"?
Singapore IS a memeber of the British commonwealth.

Wow, all apathetic and ignorant, all depoliticised.
Easy to fool with propaganda!
This is what you get with a population brainwashed by state controlled mainstream propaganda media.
Taiwan media everyday bombard them with politics, even three year old also know about political issues.
Here, all bullshit.
Hail Raja Lee!
Long live Raja Lee!
Class, well in general, I asked several friends of mine, they can't answer those, also Poh Ah Pak, Republic simply means out of the Commonwealth.
Also if you read Political Magazines, you could find ignorant Singaporeans all over the street, I am going to do that one day and try and see if I can give you guys the same laugh...
Also USA isn't a Welfare state, much of their funds go to War Pensions to Soldiers In Iraq, hence a astronomical amount. If so, why are Insurance Companies gaining such a massive monopoly in the US, till they can even gain some political power in congress?
Republic simply means out of the Commonwealth.

The Commonwealth of Nations, usually known as the Commonwealth and sometimes as the British Commonwealth, is a voluntary association of 53 independent sovereign states, most of which are former British colonies (the exceptions being the United Kingdom itself and Mozambique).

Who teach you one?
Teenager never mind lah enjoy your youth while you can. If adults cannot answer off the cuff, then got problem. That being said, I will play this version of "Am I smarter than a Secondary School student?".
"All 43 can't name a country starting with a letter 'O'"
Neither can I.
"41 don't know who the current President of Russia is -_-'!"
I cant spell Mende-whatever.
"All 43 can't name the biggest City in Europe"
Biggest in term of area or population? I guess Paris. Or Moscow.
"- All 43 can't name where the 2014 Winter Olympics games is held,"
No idea whatsover.
"- All 43 can't name the smallest country in the world, the closest guess I got was Monaco"
If I am not wrong its San Marino. Second guess Papal State.
But nowadays no problem got internet and wikipedia what. Why dont people ambush their MP and the million dollar monkeys with these questions?
Singapore IS part of a Commonwealth..
we were a british colony afterall.. also dint u rmb we participated in the commonwealth games.
USA IS a welfare state.
anw, how old are u?
cos if u do the same survey with my class im sure u'll get a far better result.
-5 don't know who the current Prime Minister of Singapore is
- 35 thinks Singapore's army is entirely made up of professionals, uhm.. I think they forgot NS.. lol
you sure or not ? ..... are you studying in an international school ? .....
I find it very hard to believe you ..... ![]()
"21 don't know what the stars of the Singapore Flag represent..."
I doubt even adult PAP lackeys can answer that off the cuff. Unless you are a Malay or a teacher, when you become an adult I doubt you can even sing the whole national anthem. Or the national pledge.

to put your survey in perspective, you need to reveal to a certain level of details:
age-group; what kind of class is this, normal type of class or special school, how is the survey conducted, written in paper or answer in 5 seconds, etc, etc. you get my drift. many variables will influence the results.
one can manipulate researches to suit a particular purpose.
so, for now, i won't read too much into this.
if it's an international school, i think they'd know who john mccain is. hahaha. and i think more wouldnt know what the stars represent. and i think more would know the largest country in the world. and i think more would know who the current president of Russia is too.
the O one...isnt there a country (or at least i think it's a country haha) called oman or err...omar...??? hahahaha. just a guess. lol.
2014 winter olympics held in sochi, Russia
2014 commonwealth games held in glasgow, Scotland
i think i'll let 2014 be my travelling year. hurhur.
2012 is the lisa-sucks-cock olympics at london. that logo is really something T.T
Ah I know Oman. I cycled Oa..Om in my head. Anymore countries before that?
Ossetia or Odessa? Something like that.
"2014 winter olympics held in sochi, Russia
2014 commonwealth games held in glasgow, Scotland"
You know your athletics. Where is the next SEA games btw?
this kind of things.. not only singaporean kids one la..
i saw b4 the US teens lagi worse.. cant remember la.. they think we are part of china.. and think we no technology, like kampong like that one..
wait.. how old are u 1st?
who ur test subject? specify age group and nationality please
Please ask your parents to sing the national anthem, kids and ask them to say the national pledge.

Actually other than anthem and pledge, I still remember my pri sch's school song.
ur sample size too small
Thats good for you. Its an indicator of people's "loyalty" to the Republic of Singapore. At least the Americans can sing their own national anthem, I believe that is the same for the Chinese as well regardless of their political beliefs.
Unless he Sec 4 dont expect him to utilize statistics lah.

One thing though... their anthem is in their mother tongue
Can you repeat the pledge? Its in English. Not the whole thing just a few lines.
Most Malaysian Chinese and Indian can sing their national anthem "Negaraku", even got parodied into "Negarakuku" by some punk studying in Taiwan.
"God save the queen" has to be the easiest anthem, IMHO.
Remembered the trial of Henry Ford when he started Ford? People wanted to prove he is the stupidest man in the world. They began by putting him on trial and asking him questions, unlike what TS had asked. Mr Ford couldn't answer most of them.
After 20 questions or so, he said "I do not know the answers that you are looking for to any of your questions. On my desk are 5 buttons where I can instantly summon people of knowledge and specialty related to my business. This leaves me time to think about other things. I do not see in anyway, how answering your questions will benefit me."
It was at that point of time than that the people realised indeed he is the smartest man.
