"The Post's public service award came for its vivid accounts of the poor treatment suffered by wounded soldiers at what was supposed to be a premier medical facility. Reporters Dana Priest and Anne Hull and photographer Michel du Cille depicted a hospital littered with mouse droppings, broken-down furniture and an inattentive staff.
The stories provoked widespread outrage, leading Defense Secretary Robert M. Gates to fire Army Secretary Francis J. Harvey.
....
"I worry that some papers are really chipping away at this kind of good, investigative journalism," said McCaskill, a member of the Armed Services Committee, which reviewed the hospital's shortcomings. "It keeps us honest. It keeps our democracy honest. And, in this case, it protected literally hundreds of good, patriotic Americans who obviously deserved a lot, lot better.""
Kastari - how he escaped not covered. PAP criticism never. Foreign news cut and paste from agencies. Opnions written by third parties. You cant even use the Straits Times as toilet paper.
There is no reason why someone should read Straits Times or spend 80 cents on Straits Times.
If for some reason, you do, be aware that Straits Times is mostly state propaganda and it serves the agenda of the state.
Compare Straits Times with:
I read ST just to look for job in classfied at
i use ST to air my complains bout poor services whenever i encounter any...usually they come give me free vouchers:P

your question is not fair. it covers both end.
how to adequately answer? it is like asking, which 4d is not mostly, you strike or you don't?
improve english lo.
teacher always say, read more straits time to improve ur english
hahaha
Aiyo, be fair to SPH lah. If you've been reading Canadian or US newspapers for 2 years, like I've been, Straits Times is really really awesome! Some of the wonderful features of Straits Times:
1. Lots and lots of global and regional news. You're lucky to find 2 pages of global news in N. American papers.
2. You never get interrupted by "continued on page XX" when reading an article on the front page. As a Singaporean pampered by ST almost all my life, I find this the most frustrating...
3. I miss the "Hot Bod of the Week" section... just so I can complain how some of those people can make it in there ![]()
4. It's a valuable insight into what the government wants you to think ![]()
I'd love to elaborate on what I do with the ST. Read up on stupid propaganda. Laugh at comic strips. The usual, what you normally do with the papers. So on so forth.
But... I pretty much just wrap it up to whack roaches and such.
