luckily or unluckily, good or bad,
to emigrate is not for any Tom Dick or HARRY.
qualifications:
1. skills, education.
2. EQ - adaptation and motivation.
3. Ability to Exercise own choice where to stay.
if its easy, I am sure tom dick and harry who needed money would have already done so instead of being hacked to death by ah long.

I think u brother upon receiving his NS registration notice, he should inform CMPB that he did not want to serve NS so that arrangement can be made.
The sad thing about this thread is people have this perception that being a PR is better than being a Singaporean.
Whether true or not, it really goes to show how bad things are becoming in Singapore.
How many other countries can you think about that has its citizens wanting to give up their citizenship to become PRs in their own countries?
This is one serious issue that one must really think hard and honestly.![]()

Such Irony.... I dunno if I should laugh or cry....

If you give up SG citizenship, you will become stateless (unless you have another citizenship elsewhere). Government can't make you serve NS if you are no longer a citizen. Then you apply for SG PR, and as a 'first generation PR', you don't have to serve NS! If there is a more direct process for you to 'downgrade' to a PR, it's even better! :D
if it's really NS that you're afraid of ... you know .... there's always a very quick solution for you ? ....

Most Sporeans who gave up their citizenship have already served NS.
If one has already become a citizen of another country, he would have already gave up his SG citizenship. Come back as PR for what? Let's say he can do that. No one will trust him to be a patriot in any country.
