thats not new... the current Sultan of Johore is a descendent of the Abu Bakar line, which is descended from the Temenggong. The Hussein line, which Raffles collaborated with to sign the 1819 treaty got SO degenerate and SO seriously in debt that his pension was given over as collateral to an Indian money lender in return for cash advances... that was why he kept fighting for a more substantial pension from the brits. Seems to me like you're the one who's missing the point. I shall not bother to enlighten you, seeing as how your startling powers of in-depth perception has enabled you to completely miss my meaning for the last few posts. Anyway... Only someone just as infantile would continue to engage in pointless argument with someone whom you believe to be a kid, so who's the childish one? And as you said, people with inferiority complexes tend to be extra defensive or aggresive. That must be why you see the necessity to write long essays with the sole purpose of insulting me and to defend yourself. And you seem to be slipping in your attempts to use superior vocabulary... Couldn't you think of a better word than "infantile"? Or perhaps your overuse of the word is a result of a subconscious admission?Originally posted by Atobe:You must be quite a comic, and certainly provide relief to this very insightful exchange that I am probably having with a kid - who is probably trying so hard but still cannot grow up.
If you are not interested in history or cannot accept someone elseÂ’s point of view without insulting your own intelligence, why bother to work up your adrenalin at all?
Everyone is free to write in this forum, at any length that is enough to press a point of view.
Too bad, you miss the point again, and no score for your effort in making the assumption that posting here are meant to impress.
Perhaps it is your own attempt to impress readers here with your effort in being macho by your infantile display of vulgarity towards someone elseÂ’s point of views that you do not agree with.
It has been researched by psychologists that people who suffer from deep inferiority complexes have a greater tendency to be extra defensive and become aggressive for the most simple and slightest reasons.
Their tolerance level will be extremely low, with a very strong sense of social insecurity, and an inability to socialize, and hence will feel boredom overcoming their life easily.
These are traits that perhaps you are more familiar with.
Thank you for your inaccurate observation, actually I am quite comfortable with my own complexes, and participate in this forum to gain insight from the views of other participants, and certainly not out of boredom to work up my adrenalin.
Unlike your stated intention to participate in this forum simply to pick an argument to overcome your boredom.
Try harder to turn the table on others, as with each turn, you may slowly succeed without showing your own infantile weaknesses.
The Light seems to be getting dimmer from your side, and seems to be traveling slower than the sound that you are trying to make. This is pathetic, as Light should travel faster than Sound.
At last, a post from you without any sublime additions to your inclinations towards the world of “Gay Pride” or “Gay Pride Rallies”, or “Tree Huggers” and “Pompous Ass”.Originally posted by Mazohyst:Seems to me like you're the one who's missing the point. I really think you need to deal with your problems. Your insecurities make you feel that you have to use long words and complex sentence structure to prove your intelligence. However, the only thing you have managed to do is piss people off. Perhaps you should try working on your social skills. Try sorting out your own house before meddling with anothers.Originally posted by Atobe:At last, a post from you without any sublime additions to your inclinations towards the world of “Gay Pride” or “Gay Pride Rallies”, or “Tree Huggers” and “Pompous Ass”.
For a while, I was puzzled by your attraction towards such activities and expressions, and wondered if your boredom had led you into a different world.
Perhaps this exchange had benefited you in some way to move you from your practiced vulgarity to a more sophisticated plane of discourse.
At least, the long dissertations have attracted your attention, and to move you to respond and finally improve your efforts in good mannered debate.
Even the hopelessly bored that prefer vulgarity can be redeemed with some patience.
Actually, when dealing with young kids with problematic infantile behaviour -(that is largely caused by boredom)- it is best not to be too ambitious with choice of complex words - as the mental capacity of such a problematic kid is already quite limited.
It is more effective to keep things a little simpler, and the result has now been proven.

Well excuuuse me for offering to stop and make peace. Isn't that what you advocate, treehugger? What happened to all your speeches about getting along and friendship and all that? Something's not ticking, Ghandi. Your hypocrisy is just like that of the Malaysian leaders. Who's the warmonger now? Despite your contradictions, i'm still willing to persist in my offer for truce. Why scold me only?
"I'll stop if he does"
If you are an adult don't take things personally.
Afterall, you should have got some kick out of all these exchanges.
Found relief for your sense of boredom?
Learn from this.
Never insult another person's posting that you don't agree by using vulgarity.
We speak of war but would look to peace. . .Originally posted by Atobe:It is a sad pity that this topic hints at Singapore and Malaysia going to war, and it does not help a single bit with the ageing Malaysian PM making his senility obvious when he was reported to have said that Singapore’s continued construction at Preda Branca (Pulua Batu Puteh) will require Malaysia having to protest strongly and “short of going to war” in its effort to reclaim possession of this island rock.
There are at least Thirty Percent of Singaporean families with relatives in Malaysia, and there must be at least Ten Percent of Singaporeans who have spouses from Malaysia – and vice versa.
It was heart warming when I had the opportunity to speak to two children from such a Malaysian-Singaporean marriage, when I asked them if “they would consider themselves Malaysian or Singaporean?”
From a five-year-old child whose father is Malaysian-Malay and the mother is Singaporean-Malay, the reply was that she is a “Malay” person – neither Malaysian nor a Singaporean.
From a four-year-old child whose father is Singaporean-Chinese and the mother is Malaysian-Chinese, the reply was that she is a “Chinese” – neither a Malaysian nor a Singaporean.
Two children queried at two separate occasions, and both speak innocently from the heart without any sense of hippocratic diplomacy but with pure innocent honesty.
We are all from the Human Race, in this age of interdependence it is madness to speak of wars when there are other more sane way to resolve issues.
It will be different when someone shoves and pushes instead of standing to reasoning and logic; but until then, why involve us with the lowdown behaviors of the few low brain warmongers.
Light travel faster than Sound, so people appear bright until you hear them speak.

Laser51088, you are right that there is no place without loyalty.Originally posted by laser51088:We speak of war but would look to peace. . .
anyway, I also hold the view that Nationality should come before race, a person with no loyalties to bind them is a dangerous one, be very careful with them. . . there is no place on this earth for people without loyalties. . .
while we want peace, we are willing to wage war if they come asking for it, I dun consider it madness to speak of war in this 'age of interdependence' as you very eloquently put it. . . there have been more minor (or localised) conflicts since after WWII than most of us care to know about. . .
so basically, war is always a possibility, and country with a a more powerful armed force will always hold more power, you think its a coincidence that al the UN security council members all 'happen to be' nuclear powers. . . hell no!
my two cents

whoa!!! Real or not??!!! He eventually got SO degenerate that the brits found it convenient and desirable to ignore them. Crawfurd got so pissed with them that he cut a road right through the Sultan's Kampong Glam palace compound, breaking down the walls with Indian convicts and cutting off the sultan's property in 2
the Abu Bakar line was elevated after they switched from being pirates to fighting pirates (thanks to HMS Diana who scared him blue)... and since the treaty of london effectively put the Peninsula portion of the Riau Sultanate in the Brit sphere of influence, they eventually rewarded him by placing him as Sultan of Johore. They rather deserved it in those days... they were forward looking, very wealthy, because they were involved in trade and commerce while the Kampong Glam "sultan" just sat around, fucked bum (no REALLY!!! Munshi Abdullah talks about it in his writings) and got REALLY fat.
Tripwire's right... it was a VERY dirty part of history...stuff they don't teach kids in primary school
the descendents were living in the Kampong Glam Istana until very recently when the gov't gave them more money and booted them out to convert it into a Malay Heritage Centre... and guess what the nice Tengku did after that? he started a petition and wanted to get the Sultan of Johore involvedcan you say "fifth columnist"?
