No one in this world can live forever.
Not even Lee Kuan Yew.
Dying is easy, everyone can do it.
Will Lee Kuan Yew do it?
If he dies, I will be glad.
Fuck no. That's too young. Vote at a more mature age. 21 is a good time to vote. You'd be finished with four years of college by that time. If you did not attend college, you would have had some life experience.
If an 18 year old male can be rope in to defend the nation , Why can't they vote?
I'm opposed to 18 year olds being drafted but if they are doing it of their own free will, I see it as eqivalent to recieving training in college for their career. But voting takes a lot more maturity and a beter outlook on life. I just think that people need more true life experience before voting.

Less people will object to the draft if there is generous compensation. Say, suppose the government were to provide all NS servicemen free medical benefits: 100% if if you are combat fit, 50% if you are PES C, 25% for PES E. Women, PRs and all those exempted from NS will have to pay more in taxes to pay for the subsidies. I bet there will be less objections to NS. If the additional tax is payable by the employer of non-NS servicemen, employers will prefer to employ Singaporean males.
At 18 if you are old enough to die for your country then you are old enough to vote but if the Garmen doesnt think so then let NS begin at 21.
vote? you serious? how many youth, out in the real world, are from NUS law faculty?
most youth today are bo chap and I don't think voting is going to make them more political savvy or raising their level of political awareness.
I was wrong. 18 year olds should be allowed to vote. I still recommend more experience before voting. (more like at 21) Wisdom is determined by how much life experience a person has had and how much he/she has learned and grown from it. It should not depend on how much birthdays that a person has celebrated. Knowing that life is rough for some teens (including the fact that they are not taken seriously because of their age) and they must cope with a lot of stress because of it, I think that counts as enough expeience. However, I'm still opposed to drafts. Youths should join the army of their own free will and not because they have no choice.
No..

I assume your lass's between the age of 18 and 21 are doing the National Service?
And you are asking them to vote? Of course they can all take time off for a few hours to go to the voting booth. But I have a very real concern which I cannot say it out loud here. I fear....something....

If u are 18, be patient, wait for ur wisdom tooth to grow first, still can vote in the next round... unless ofcourse your opposition due to unforseen situation became bankrupt, then u get walk all over...
Like I said before, how is an 18 year old old enough to serve NS but too young to vote?

1. Look at the reply frm the German....
2. 18 is ur physical peak, I for one will rather serve sooner than later. moslty in ns, u will take orders, that does nt require wisdom. NS requires more physical prowness than wisdom, so IMO these 2 things are exclusive, and should not be discussed together.

Voting starts from 21 years old and so according to your opinion a soldier's mind under that age is not mature or smart enough to choose a government?
I think that even 21 is too young

whats the rush of voting? you can vote in the next round when u are 21.
Why lump NS and voting together? ppl mayb mature in 18 some may not even in 21.
NS must at 18, cos that way it will cost less obstruction to ur life, 21 after uni u trying to build career then they come enlist u, alot of ppl will nt be happy.
Ns is boys became man mah.... Be patient
i vote yes for voters at 18.
talk about maturity, u see those older voters keep voting for PAP even though they whine and complain about them all day long. that where the 66.6% comes about, and if that is maturity, then i dont see any reason why we should stop the young ones from voting.
