what do think will happen to current developed nations when these countries rise?
Note that these countries hold the key to things like rice and other commodoties.
Very general question....I dont know how to answer.
In my opinion, the developed world will accomodate these 2 countries.
The world is always changing and evolving, and everyone is adjusting and accomodating, not just between these 2 nations and the developed countries, but everyone towards each other.
I just hope that this accomodation process can happen peacefully and with minimum friction, otherwise, the people will suffer.
Meat Pao.
If it goes well, new powers will balance USA and NATO cliques' influence.
start growing rice and start digging for oil lah...
the world will never be the same...
Well I think the Singapore as country with economic prowess won't last long as the Chinese are taking it bit by bit.
As of India,at present not a threat like China for wanting more territory. But too soft in international matters. And too non-violent unlike Chinese. But the farm output reduction can affect the world's food prices.

china and india are already dominant force in the econmy world.
china and india are still very much self sufficient and exporter of food themselves.
the question is, when the middle and lower class get more influent, they will stop exporting and support local domestic market.
country like singapore will suffer coz we have almost zero agriculture except for a few small egg farm. goat farm, frog harm and chicken farm.
Singapore maybe small, and may not have the space for more primary industry work in animal and agricultural sector.
However, there are many farms owned by Singaporeans overseas in Indonesia, Malaysia, Myanmar, Thailand and Vietnam - either on a wholly owned basis or joint-venture with locals.
In such investments, Singapore will bring finance and technical expertise to modernise farming techniques and increase yields, as well as the marketing experience to the global market.
Over the last ten years, the Singapore Government has played 'catch-up' to the Singaporean private enterprises, who have actually led the way into China and India - and also into Australia and South Africa. Many Singaporean private enterprises have got into agricultural investments to provide upstream raw materials needed for their industrial facilities, which prolong the shelf life of the agricultural products in being marketed to the global market.
I sincerely hope India and China can grow and prosper, and also other countries, Russia, Brazil, Egypt.
In my opinion our world is like walking along with one leg only, instead of running with 2 legs. There are many innovations, discoveries, and cultural works, which can come from vast swathes of humanity, if they can be unleashed once the basic neccessities are met and basic problems are solved.

All countries should develop and prosper.
There must be a balance of power in the world.
We cannot have one big country or one small clique of countries want to dominate the entire world and its resources.
I will oppose that.
I won't agree to that.
Singapore sits pretty well in the face of China and India rising. Singapore has highly educated people and a service economy. I believe LKY has envisioned this for a long time. Otherwise, Singapore wouldn't be able to compete. (And I don't understand why you guys are so unhappy with LKY)
They WILL grow to become super power that even eclipses US now. I have to bring out the point that these two countries contains quite a amount of the world's population. Basically, they will be in control of the world's market in foreseeable future.
At the same time, China is transforming itself into the world's factory. Back to some history lesson, US was able to defeat German AND Japan during WWII is due to it's sheer industrial power. These industrial power came from manufacturing industry, which the US is now OUTSOURCING to China.
The problem with India is that, they do not have a compulsory education system in place. India might lag behind China (but it doesn't mean that can read is good lah, if everything u read is how good the party is, then pointless mah) in chasing after the world's No. 1 seat because of this.
Atobe brought up a valid point.
I am not sure there is a case where a country so huge and with large population move towards high consumption by importing agriculture ?
China would almost need to start moving farming its own food supply.
Enviornmental changes will likely cause changes in the food chain.
singapore will be dead by then these countries will emerge or may merge with the US.
the americans go to meetings to get to a decision ...
the french go to meetings to suss things out ...
the chinese go to meetings with decisions already made ...
...
cultural diversity ...
people do things differently ... what's important is if what works, keep doing it ...
I just hope US is not the only one country to have world domination.
