SINGAPORE: Singapore ranks second in Asia after Tokyo as a key centre of commerce, according to a study by MasterCard Worldwide Research.
The study ranks the top 75 centres of commerce by comparing how they perform critical functions that connect markets around the world.
I hope that critics will stop babbler nonsense about singapore govt and readers be more discerning when reading complaints written by opposition down here.

The research is done by MasterCard Worldwide Research ?
How did the research arrive at its conclusion ? Do you have any details ?
Was it done from the perspective and interests of MasterCard Worldwide in the number of card holders that subscribed to their services, or from the turnover in MasterCard revenues generated from transactions made by Cardholders ?
With Singapore being reputed as second to Japan in terms of personal income, should this come as a surprise ?
Perhaps, the No 2 spot may have also included the highest number of credit card defaulters, as well as successful bankruptcies concluded ?
What was Singapore ranking in the suicide rates as a result of the personal financial mismanagement due to credit card abuse ?
Whats tokyo's suicide rate ? Bankruptcy rate ? Credit card defaulters ? We are living in a highly competitive city and we can't stop people from spending beyond their means and choosing to end their lives. You hear people migrating to perth, vancouver whatever..but you don't hear of people moving to Tokyo, people move out. Same shit.

Spending beyond their means does have implications should we be hit by some currency devaluation, something that our own MAS has been, to an extent, very vigiliant about.

May be profitable in the long run. Or come to Singapore work as propoganda dog.
In terms of actual commerce being conducted in terms of volume and quantity, Singapore probably rates behind many other Chinese cities.
key centre of commerce got use? does it say anything abt govt helping the poor at a point in time when inflation is flying high and prices for commodities are soaring?
i hope some ppl can stop using statistics which cannot feed the people to try to shut the ppl up..
