Hello,
I understand from a friend living in singapore that Employment statistics there is usually published in terms of Residents which includes all PRs. A PR is a foreigner holding a special working permit allowing him long term residency.
Why is it so? Why not publish citizen employment rate clearly?
I find this fascinating and interesting.
I like to know, which respectable countries in the world publish employment statistics the same way.
Thanks,
Gutentaginator
I don't know of any country that does that because I'm lazy to find out. One thing for sure, a adult PR would most likely be employed ![]()
funny thing is... i am no longer in their stat calculation...cos i'm a citizen staying overseas........
???
lets see what PR stands for
Permanent RESIDENT
so i guess someone need to go back to primary school for some extra lessons in english

Thank you for showing an intimate interest in Singapore's affairs. Our employment statistics lump citizens and PR together because our gahmen wants everybody residing here, regardless of duration, to feel at home. When the PR know that they're being counted as citizen they will put in their best, don't you think so? I'm afraid we're unable to tell you which respectable countries in the world publish employment statistics the same way as our gahmen tells us that we are the only respectable country (or something like that), all the other countries are mediocre. Moreover, our responsible state times also never tell us. What about your country? Is it considered respectable? Thank you and cheers! (edited to add in the greetings as that's how citizens of respectable country write)
Hi Pearlie27, where I come from, the stats are not as fuzzy. Information of public interest is respected and available to all.
