Hi friends,
I am a student overseas.
I like to know :
1. Is it true that leaders of Opposition like WP being representatives in the parliament, are also considered as Civil servants? If so, are they getting the same kind of high salary as other civil servants? If not, does it mean that civil servant is a term for the ruling party? Does WP have people working in any town council ? What rank or salary scale does leaders like LTK / Sylvia belong to? Do they get the same kinds of salary?
For a democracy to be vibrant and thriving, I believe opposition should become stronger for the benefit of society. Towards an even more transparent and accountable society where more people's views can be represented.
To achieve this, I believe that Opposition leaders salaries should be also very high in order, as they say, to attract and retain the best and brightest for singapore.
Afterall, what is this salary compared to the GDP?
Or do you believe in a democracy with weak or no opposition? anyone prefer a 1-party system ? Not that it is so now. In the 1st place, is it ideal to have a democracy that is formed by 1-party only? Is it incorrect by the definition of democratic society? Not that it is currently so. But still, we need to convince ourselves what is the correct form of democracy , if indeed democracy is what the people want.
civil servants the title is for bai shui one...in actual we are the servants of those civil servant...
Civil servants refer to all who serve under the government, including even teachers, police, army personnel... (I think? Well teachers under MOE are definitely civil servants anyway.)
i guess that they should at least have a civil and servile attitude but i am sad to say that the majority are just a bunch of rude crooks.
calling singapore's civil servants, civil servants is the same as calling vicious man eating tigers, kittens
It is defined as a servant who serve the civilians. But in here, it seem like the civilians are serving the servant.
