Electricity tariffs up 4.98% from next quarter

SINGAPORE : Electricity tariffs will go up by 4.98 per cent (4.98%) or by 1.19 cents per kilo watt per hour (kWh) for all households from the next quarter (July 1 to September 30) beginning July 1.
Singapore Power said the hike is due to higher electricity costs arising from higher fuel prices. The forward fuel oil price is 11.03 per cent higher than that of US$74.40 per barrel for the current quarter.
The electricity tariff is reviewed every quarter. — CNA

One Minister already said, if they make it cheap for us everybody will use more.
Make it expensive, then nobody will use, better for the environment.

Seems like each time when petrol price rises, good opportunity for the gahmen to earn more by increasing tarriff. Believe the PAP must have love the constant rise in the price of petrol. Rise in petrol price = more revenue for PAP, they have more reason to suck us dry.

Isnt most of our power stations powered by natural gas?
So does the price of natural gas in tandam with the price of fuel oil? If not, I see no reason for the electricity price hike.

dun worry, come election everything will go down, ERP, elec tariff, petrol, COE, S&C, this is economic cycle, every 4 or 5 years will go down, then after election, go up again .

wah i really wan salute government personnels.
cheaper electricity rates means people will use more, thats why have to increase.
cheap ERP charges don't affect much people, thats have have to increase.
might as well one shot increase everything. water, petrol, food, healthcare, etc etc etc.

tell you how to make full use of the tax people pay to feed PAP and to contribute to the country- use the govt building public toilets as much as you can so you don't need pay for use of public toilet. If you need toilet papers, use as much as possible for all these are already paid by using public's money. -
