Human development is not something which you cant change overnight. it has got alot to do with education and cultural change. Singapore is only 45 years old, hence how can you expect Singapore to be among the top 10 when the first generation of Singaporeans, who are uneducated farmers, fishermen, coolie, hokkien peng, mat-rockers, growing up shitting in holes dug in the ground, are still alive?
Would you like to highlight this to everyone in Singapore?
I am sure you'll get a nice response.
Also are you saying that our current bunch of leaders which belong to this generation have outlived their usefulness?

Please dont try to reinvent the wheel for selfish reasons, because not all forumers here are as stupid as you think. If you want to prove a point here, name me a country that is ranked above Singapore in HDI and yet have a shorter history than Singapore.

You do know what the "logical fallacy of strawmanning" is do you?
The best part of all this, is that the HDI does not touch on the quality of education, neither does it touch on the quality of the opportunities available. By and far, the HDI is fucking useless statistic, and at best only a benchmark used for Third World Countries which have 'practically nothing to fall on'. So while we are in the business of comparing useless statistics, how about we start measuring how many stupid posts that our resident morons have made? We could then concoct a statistic on "how stupid they can possibly be".

Who's reinventing the wheel? You are the one who is trying to insist that the wheel ought to be square.
My point is the same, and that is the history does matter as much as how things are done now. In the same vein, nations with hundreds of years of history can change or vanish in a matter of decades.
It does not matter if Singapore is young or old, what matters is the question of WHY we are still 25? And you blame it on our first generation people.
You can strawman all you want as Fingolfin pointed out, but that does not change the fact that your appeal to history is still logically flawed. And arguing on that point or forcing people to answer your nonsense question will not help your case.
You are right in saying that people here are not silly, they see your strawman for what it is.
